I Wasnt Going To Say Anything But...i Am Hurt

I am scared of losing strength. I enjoy benching. I dont get hurt really flat benching. I got hurt do shoulder raises in my Ac last March, and in comp last sept when the bar came crashing towrds my face and i had to slam 562lbs in to the uprights. That was Rotator. Honestly though i am willing to adapt to someting else for awhile. I wont go under 5 reps till probaly close to sept now. So actualy this summer may be a good time to try some westside benching. (I KNow Jimmie Dean would be happy with that).

Side note i had a goal to bench 600 raw. I know .., i know lose the ego! I will tell ya what Jay you say it like it is. And it is what you say. You would be hell to train with! So realy the only thing i would change to become westside is drop raw benching and do speed that day. Thurs day is Max effort westside style anyway. SO i am one exercise away from being there anyway. Let me research it.

I am glad to hear you had the same ting, and it healed quick. I just took the ice off and its pretty numb right now but it will be fine. I dont know what i could have done to prevent it. Ya know from pullin and all. But time will tell. Its still swollen but not as sore. I had trouble steering today but if i had too quickly it wasnt unbareable. Ice and vioxe! Cant wait till monday for my massage!
 
Yes -- I am brutally honest -- ask any of my partners. One of my partners asks a lot of questions(newbie) I smack him inthe face with it. He is a load of talent, wait till you see him. He's 5'7" and 285'ish. Thick as a friggin' house. He will not light it up in June -- but watch out at his next meet. He's ready to bench 500 and squat over 700, but he doesn;t believe it yet and he won;t do it until he believes it. I would be a shitty partner if I candy coated it for him, but I expect the same from him. I think this guy will beat us all to a 900lb squat. I may beat him to 800 but after that I can't be sure. He's got somthing on his bench that I have only seen from the very best benchers -- allhis benches snap at the top. His head is right, for now, but I have had to break him down for a year and then I spent the last 2 months bulding his confidence up. He's s fuckin' tank.

Wait till you see my freak19! He is a tank. He is 5'7 240 ,19yrs old, 800 squat, 500 bench , and we hope he puls 700 there. He will beat me to the 900 no doubt. I swear every year they get stronger and bigger. When i started it seemed few locally could hit 500 now everyone does. Amazing.

My other partner will squat , 800 , bench 500, and pull close to 700 as well.

My other Ron is just benching but 500 at 181 is pretty good too. Were a small group but we push other pretty hard. And we need to be more honst with each other, like ya'll. When we do good we say it but when one fails we need to ...well say it too!
 
Yes, marcus will be lifting. He may be ready for 2000, if not this meet then later in the year. we are undecided as what meet we will enter next -- southern states or the ipa meet in nov. I have never lifted ipa but I have only heard they are a blast to lift in.
 
Could you have just dislocated your shoulder partially (and it snapped back by itself) and caused inflammation?

I know if you dislocate it and have it put back it is tender for a while..
 
hey pljay,

you are doing the right thing. just relax. If you tore something badly, you would know it.

I have had 2 serious injuries... herniated discs and a pec-tear. I knew right away on both.

If you don't show blood and the swelling subsides in a few days, spare yourself the doctor's visit.

Do you know what an intern will tell you:

"give it a few weeks....then see a ortho if it is still hurt"

Do you know what an ortho will tell you:

"we need an MRI to see what is going on"

Without insurance, MRI's are expensive.

Just give yourself some time off and see what happens. Remember, if it turns out serious, a doc can fix it 2 - 4 weeks from now just as easily. Just dont try and pick up the pace without noticing significant improvement in the injured area.

Regarding your training.

My ex-partner and I go back and forth on this. He is a national level competitor.... 850+ squat, 600+bench, high 700 pull. He hates westside.

I have done both. I prefer westside but mainly for the variety and innovation. I have had better totals at my old style of training. I am still trying to prove westside to myself.

I have come to agree with my friend on 2 issues.

1. If your training works and you enjoy it, dont change it.

2. Whether you train westside or conventional, you will get hurt eventually. Westside guys are by no means immune to injury. It's part of the sport.

WOW jay sorry to hear that bro, it seems like all those heavy benches getting ready for your meet really taxed you. I'm not a doc so I don't know what it can be I just hope you get better. Think about it this way bro if you do this meet b/c of the injury or whatever it is then take off and recover and just come back stronger(remember those words, hehe). Hope you get better bro.
 
As of today it of course it still hurts but i dont knwo really how bad. Everyday activity aint bad at all. But how can i test it to see if its still hurt. Will it handle 400plus in warmups back stage on the 1st. I mean i dont knwo how serious it is. Since this was my last meet for months should i just skip it? What if i get to the deadlifts and it does it again. How can i tell if its ok? I mean really ok. I just wanna squat really! Stupid i know hell dont tell my wife i will say i am fine squat and bow out! She'd kill me, if i do this meet were staying all weekend and entry fee. Its gonna cost me a couple hundered buck to see if iam ok or not. That is my worry as of now.

Let me explain my mind thought. Last March i hurt my AC bad. Came off my (supplements) and got weaker. Becasue i could lift heavy and being clean. So after reahb i got back ON, and started traing heavy again. Then basically got back to wear i was. Then Rotator went in a accident in Comp. Trained light, and got clean again. Got weaker then i had been in 2 years. Rehabed got back ON, and am now were i was last Sept , a little better but about the same. I dont wanna get Clean and nurse an injury , so when i go back on i get strong again to the point i am at now. I am spinning my wheels. You understand? I get well the hurt , then well then hurt. I want to come clean in June, maintain my strength and then go baclk on And BAM serious PR's. When i come clean and am healthy i can maint tain alot of my strenght. When it starts to go down a little i go back on and then huge PR"s. Thats how you progress without ever going backwards.

I think i just answered my own question on the meet! Irish Call me bro!

1dawg- i would do the IPA. If i could afford it i would. Looks like a blast and plus the adrenaline rush would be worth it alone! Go for it! Hell do both!

No i havent. I kinda of thought the same way Irish said. There is no bruising. If there was i might have went. But it doesnt feel real bad. I can make myself feel it, but in everyday shit its fine.

Weird thing is i just snuck off to the gym to see if its bad or not. I know i am stupid but fuck i gotta know. SO i did reps with 25lb dumbells. Feels good. Then loaded 135 on the bar and popped some reps, felt fine. Loaded 225 on the bar did 3 real slow reps. Felt easy as shit, in fact my left shoulder was more aggravated then my new hurt one. Thats good news.

I then went over to the squat rack and loade up 225 on the bar and was going to lift it from knee to lockout. Ouch! Not real bad, but that is were i feel it. 100%. Like i said it wasnt real bad but that motion is what caused it and its were i feel it.

Thanks for the concern but its just not serious enough to waste my money. I have no insurance. But i realize now its not that bad. I was just scared. Still dont knwo when it will be 100% but hell it may have been nothing i dont knwo. With all the icing i have done and all the vioxe it feels ok at this point.

How about a token 135 deadlift?
