I love Soy Protien?

I recently went through a severe cutting phase. It has now been the third time I have went down to about 3% bodyfat. Each time I have rebounded by eating terrible foods and gaining back fat and water really quick. This past time however, Idecided to try and maintain and enjoy being lean and cut up. I opted for foods low in fat and carbs but wanted to find stuff to keep my cravings down. SOY! I found several products conting this product and was excited to learn that there were very few carbs in it and that there was protien to boot. As I did more research I found that it may not be so good (ie:estrogen increase) I have been munching on soy milk, bread, and nuts thorughout my day to keep my cravings down. Now I was curious to what would actaully be a better choice..regular bread (high carbs) or soy bread---soy milk or skim milk---chips or soy nuts. They are all so good and satisfy my every craving. I am really up in the air about this whole things. I want to stay ripped but whats the best solution here?

Screw soy, eat some hemp. and of course chicken breasts. ALSO, EAT LOTS OF TUNA... man, im startin to think of my girlfriend. Hemp and tuna have omega 3's in there so its an added bonus. Just make sure u get the hemp u eat, not smoke...

The estrogens you are referring to in your post are psuedo-estrogens. These will acttually aid in your quest to getting leaner. Why? Because they attach to the receptor sites in place of estrogen doing so....therefore....you get something in place of the ESTROGEN now attaching to the receptors. This is a good thing. It's kind of like being on a mild form of Nolvadex or Clomid. Granted there's a difference in the way these two act as well. Nevetheless....you should notice a decrease in free-floating estrodiol. Remeber the product Diazadin (spelling?). This was a soy extracted and based product that was supposed to be a great anti-estrogen. It worked mildly for me. Subcutaneous water- loss was an effect for me. Mainly due to the eradicating of estradiol in my system. Point is this: soy is great for it's side benefits (above mentioned---estrogen regulaton) however....for gaining mass; it's very inferior to whey, egg, and red meats amino acid profiles and uptake and absorption rates. I always mix my soy with egg with whey to get the best of all worlds.

I find your post very informative. I drink tons of soy milk myself since I can't drink milk. (To the poster who said soy makes him fart: never heard of that...it's the other way around for me because of lactose intolerance. But I guess you're kidding since you also mentioned big biceps.) Anyway, I also get a lot of other protein.

I've been confused about all the contradicting info out there about soy. You didn't mention anything really bad about soy (except it's inferior protein quality). What do you think about all the alleged horrors of soy? For instance, the psuedoestrogens in soy which you mentioned. Aren't there any undesirable effects to these, especially for men?

The pseudoestrogens act like estrogen but are VERY weak, plus i believe you have to take in a bunch of soy to get those pseudoestrogens. I also heard that soy scored a 1.0 on the scale (which is the highest rating) which supposedly surpasses meats. alot of the information surrounding soy proteins is controversial. I particularly dont use soy in my diet. When was the last vegetarian you saw that was built? they are all scrawny. damn hippies.

Actually I've seen quite a few vegan bodybuilders on websites. The fact that they eat mostly soy for protien doesn't seem to hold them back much.
