But is loosing self control such a bad thing? I mean if it happens once in a while (and not every second day) .... afterall, we do try control nearly every aspect of our lives and so overindulging in food can be just a way to let go ... other forms of "letting go" are binge drinking.... smae thing is it not?

Hahahahaha.... comparing this to binge drinking is not a good idea for this crowd... I don't think many people on this board go out binge drinking on the weekends.
Also, I'd have to agree with kurz... "losing self control" or "over-indulging" might be a few granola bars or an ice cream cone or even eating everything grandma tells you to... but not 2 whole boxes of granola bars.
It's one thing to have a PLANNED cheat meal during the week. It's another thing to fall (or rather, jump with wreckless abandon) off the wagon unexpectedly and eat like a crazy fool...

So, what's your cheat day menu like Ash?

Well, I live at home with my family (free rent, at least till May :p ) where my Dad and two brothers are all overweight and love to eat anything that's unhealthy. My Mom eats well most of the time but has a tendency to give in a little too often.

That being said, restraining myself on cheat day can be challenging. When you have the mentality of "it's cheat day! let's eat!" it's easier to get out of control. I try to keep it down to 2 or 3 slices of pizza at night and ice cream (if it's something I like).

Though lately I have found NJRipped to be inspiring. These past couple of weeks, I've tried to transform "cheat day" into "eat more natural food" day. I find it's difficult to go back to eating normally on Sunday when I had a high sugar day on Saturday. It's all about baby steps... maybe someday I'll be as good as NJ ;)

It seems Ashley has a good grasp of what dieting is. Yeah it's gonna be hard Ash, but at least you understand what it takes.

Do you follow a similar plan to NJ's "never cheat"?

I would never be able to stay away from it completely. What I want to know is, what do you do in situations where it's inevitable? For instance, someone buys you a cake for your birthday... do you insult the person and not have a piece because you "don't eat any processed food"? I don't see how it's possible to be a social human being and NEVER eat sugary/processed food.

I had that situation just happen recently. Someone offered me their homemade cookies. I said I was on a diet and they continually tried to get me to have one. I said "well, then I might as well have 2 or 3 then." I took 3 cookies and said they sure smelled great and walked away saying thanks. See, everyone was happy. :) Take a guess at what I did with the cookies. ;)

Nice job... you've really inspired me. I do believe it's advantageous to have a day to refuel, but these past couple of weeks that I haven't indulged in sugar foods I've been feeling so much better. Thank you.

You're welcome. Yep, it's amazing what eating only good food will do for you even past your physique. I feel so much better overall and haven't even had a cold for 3 years (watch, I'll probably get the flu tomorrow - lol).

makes me wonder how miserable you guys are in reality.
