How many people dont do flat barbell bench anymore?

lol i like how BigD50 said "405 is all you can get at 205"
probobly the funniest shit ive heard today

Now im no freak, and ive always considered myself weak, but if i can EVER bench 400 i will be surprised. ive always been able to press only like 20-30lbs more than i weigh. i work hard, i see great muscle gains, im just not strong.

i think its funny when peaple make fun of someone for not being close to world caliber strong.

one other thing, does anyone notice how strong everyone SAYS they are, yet how many peaple do you see even benching 3 plates at the gym.

ONLY 405....lol

In my opinion if you weigh 205 or more and on the juice you better to be able to bench 400. Otherwise get off the juice and learn how to train. If you can only bench 20-30 pounds over your body weight you are weak, very weak unless your a woman. Please don't tell me you have done roids on top of it because that would embarrassing. A 400 lb bench is not even close to being world caliber. Maybe a high school record or a record at the health club you workout at. I would guess since your probably only benching 170-180 your muscle gains must be really good like you say.... now that is the fuuny part.

yeah i know im not strong, and ive done 2 cycles and i can bench 250. no one at my 4A high school could bench 400, i think the record was about 350.
ive seen training methods that increase your bench, but because they will negatively impact my gains i wont do them. all over development is more important to me than an abstract number
(i do like it when i can get stronger though)

anyway, i dont understand the need to insult peaple just because they arnt naturally blessed with the god-like strength you seem to possess. You cant hold others to your standards when your standards are that high. I believe form has alot to do with it however. Could you describe the best form for pure power work? Maybe if i practice that i could hit 300 by summer.

this being a board where the subject matter is steroids, i dont doubt that you are very strong, but some people are just not born atheletes.

I think that most people could be stronger than they presently are or can make the progress they want to. I think training certain ways can and do help building strength. Also I feel that building strength helps to build muscle gains as well. I think the two go hand in hand. I think that if you are interested in building more strength check out some of the powerlifting forums here and on the net and find out what works for you. Look at some of the guys that are close to your size and look at what their doing and look at what kind of shape their in. I think wanting to build more strength helps a person to keep motivated in the gym to push themselves. You never know, you might suprise yourself and be a lot stronger than you thought with a little of the right training.

my form is perfect... powerlifters have no form.. they arch, bounce the weight and cheat using wraps, and shirts.. i do none of that....

And how many real powerlifters do you know?? By real powerlifter I dont mean the fat boys down the gym who get off on giving themselves the PL title cos they can't lean down.

The rules in powerlifting are very clear........if you bounce you fail the lift. You have to pause the weight so you can't bounce in a legit lift. Not all powerlifters have a big arch. Take a look at some pics of Kennelly, Mendy, PLJ......none have a big arch and they lift BIG. Shirts are there for a reason.......notice all the people on this thread with bad shoulders?? As for the wraps......only wrist wraps are allowed. How does a wrist wrap help you push the weight up?

You sound like somebody who is trying to justify not being the biggest bencher out there.........

In powerlifting terms a 405 at 205 is nothing to shout about. Why would you be suprised if you ever bench 400? If you set yout sights low you cant expect to make big progress.

BTW real powerlifters aren't that common so you might not see them in your gym.

The way I look at it is if you are a bodybuilder, it can't be "All show, no go!" If you are jucing you better do min. of 3 plates for reps....MINIMUM! Some jerk off gets on the board and put a thread that he squated 3 plates for 1 rep and everyone and their mother props him??? WTF is that? This is a STEROID FORUM!! Get a fucken clue. I can squad 3 plates with my dick. And then when you try to tell the guy that its no big deal, everyone gets on your case....come on guys!

It's like me walking up to a bunch of 280+ lbs bodybuilders and brag about my 400+ bench...They would say "and then??" what's your point? You have to know who your audience is before you start to brag about your accomplishments. Maybe if it was bunch of girls in the group they would be impressed, but if you want to impress me, you better be doing more weights than me!

I used to have a decent bench until my elbows starting giving me problems......I hated that. I loved to bench.....used to play football and we all used to compete to see who could bench the most. Now I use the dumbells so its easier on them. Oh well! Life Goes On.

"If you can only bench 20-30 pounds over your body weight you are weak, very weak unless your a woman. "

I`m 16 yrs old, stand 6"4 and weigh 225 lbs, have a 34 inch waist and i cant bench my own bodyweight. I can deadlift about 360 now and thats constantly rising and i think im doing well for a 16 yr old natural.
