How many people dont do flat barbell bench anymore?

Pacesetter said:

Well Im only benching around 780 lbs at a bodyweight of 230, 14 years old and 24 inch waist. I guess I can't be good at everything I do in life. ;)

Damn you beat me by 5 pounds!!! I'm 15 though!!! :bawling:

'fluff exercises'

That's a laugh! I guess that's why we all are still benching heavy and squating heavy and deadlifting heavy! While with your great form your relagated to fluff exercises.

I like that...'fluff exercises'....now that is some good material "Fluff exercise POOFTERS at my gym!" coming up!
People getting smacked around, laughed at, humiliated, and beaten with a chain for being a bunch of fluff-exercising pansies!

I don't bench anymore. My form was just getting too sloppy. I would slap on 8 plates, strut around the gym like I was the shit, and get ready for my lift.

I would let the bar fee fall to my sternum and then yell for my partner to help (he got a good deadlift workout when he spotted for me). He was prety kewl. He always said "its all you bro!"

Those were the dayz!!

I benchpress max every week I do over 405 with good form on the flat free weight bench..

Sounds like some people here need to change your form..You will fck up yourself if you bench elbows out with the bar coming high on the chest or pushing back up over your head.

.....bet a powerlifter said that.....i have found that what you hve stated promotes good tri strength and growth...i am tired of the myth that barbell flats are 90% tri's, if you use a wide grip with elbows slightly extended and hit just below the pecs, you work the total chest, you will work more shoulder and back that way, but isnt that why we all need to work delts.....if you work your delts more, you pain you feel will be minimal if at all, also, to help ease elbow pain, do some forearm work...it will tighten up around your tendons....and when I lift like this, i still use my tri's, but they are used less then what they would be using the above form...dumbells are great for definition but there is n othing for mass and strength like the barbell press.....

No more flat benchimg with the bar for me hurts my right shoulder way too much, I have a slight tear in my rotator cuff because of benching. Dumbells for me from now on.

I bet Nobby woudnt be very happy seeing a Nautilus room full of poofters! Time for some clotheslines and chains!

A few months ago I had gyno surgery and I could work out after two weeks but I couldnt do chest. So I started up some fina at first just to keep my muscle but I was getting good gains off of it alone. My nuts didnt shrink and I didnt get fina dick so I kept running it, I ended up gaining 15 pounds. I couldnt do chest for like 3 months until last week. I decided to prolong the fina a little and cut a bit so now im doing chest again. My incline is up 20 pounds and I haven't done it in three months. But the point to this is ive noticed my delts used to be a lot larger then my other body parts, and now they dont look like that. Now they are in proportion. I think they looked better out of proportion.
So Im training bench twice a week, on low volume and im seeing improvement. I rotate excersies on incline, decline, dips, and flys. Despite what that other guy said I think decline is a good excersise.

This is one that is truly an individual matter depending on ones anatomy. As far as flat out pectoral involvement, dips are a much better exercise though,( and hardly a pussy exercise) but they tear some guys shoulders up. I have a bad shoulder (from benching, what else) but dips don't bother me. Inclines kill me but military presses and even behind the head presses don't. Go figure.

Nevertheless, having been around for a while, it seems that sooner or later if you train long enough, you stop bench pressing.
As an aside, I've also found that among the older guys, pressing movements are the first to go. Don't know why. I can row and curl as much as ever. Deadlift more than ever. But all pressing movements are on a steady decline. Must have spoken to a dozen old timers who say the same thing.

lol i like how BigD50 said "405 is all you can get at 205"
probobly the funniest shit ive heard today

Now im no freak, and ive always considered myself weak, but if i can EVER bench 400 i will be surprised. ive always been able to press only like 20-30lbs more than i weigh. i work hard, i see great muscle gains, im just not strong.

i think its funny when peaple make fun of someone for not being close to world caliber strong.

one other thing, does anyone notice how strong everyone SAYS they are, yet how many peaple do you see even benching 3 plates at the gym.

ONLY 405....lol

I never do barbell bench presses. they fuck with my rotator cuff. I like dumbells better cause u get that nice squeeze at the top
