How many people dont do flat barbell bench anymore?

Height plays a huge part in it too....its obviously a lot easier to bench twice your weight when your 5'4 or some shit.

Height isn't the issue.......that is oversimplifying the situation. You need to have a short bench stroke. That can happen naturally if you have a deep chest and short arms or you can do it through technique (using an arch for example).

Why don't you post a pic of yourself and we will see who looks better. Alot of powerlifters are bodybuilders as well, just a lot stronger. I weigh a little more than you and bench a lot more and guess what my waist is smaller than yours. From your comments I can tell that you know nothing about powerlifting because if you have ever been to a meet you will see a lot of guys that look incredible. Also it's easy to tell that you don't know much about benching either because if 405 is all you can get at 205 and on the juice well.....i guess you could neverdo a powerlifting meet or back up anything that comes out of your mouth. I guess sometimes when your young and ignorant you know everything don't you! I'll let you get back to your cable cross-overs now.

actaully i have won a power lifting meet(ohio state high school meet).. benched 380, won the bench competition.. didnt squat/deadlift. or power clean because i was just out of knee surgery(acl)... yea yea.. i look better...:D

lol i like how BigD50 said "405 is all you can get at 205"
probobly the funniest shit ive heard today

Now im no freak, and ive always considered myself weak, but if i can EVER bench 400 i will be surprised. ive always been able to press only like 20-30lbs more than i weigh. i work hard, i see great muscle gains, im just not strong.

i think its funny when peaple make fun of someone for not being close to world caliber strong.

one other thing, does anyone notice how strong everyone SAYS they are, yet how many peaple do you see even benching 3 plates at the gym.

ONLY 405....lol

yea my 405 was recorded by a school.. it can be confirmed by a telephone call.... as you can see i dont really like/understand powerlifting, but how many people you know my age can do what i do... not many.. ive met one.. my training partner, if you arch/wrap or anything dont respond.. cause ura cheater... i dont care what injury it helps prevent, it aids in the lifting, which in turn will make u lift more.. thats cheating... later:p

very true.. i hate the short fucks.. im 6'0 even

Heavy bench presses dont guarantee the bigger nor better looking set of pecs. So whats the goal? Mine is the best most shaped and cut set of pecs with decent size. Strenght training doesnt alone build a good set of slabs. So theres no reason to lose it doing heavy bench and getting injuries. Arnold didnt get his massive chest from my bench is better than yours. He developed them from multiple angles and overload.

The power clean is not a powerlifting competition movement. It's not even an Olympic lifting competition movement. It's an Olympic lifting training movement.

So what type of "competition" was this exactly?

my form is perfect... powerlifters have no form.. they arch, bounce the weight and cheat using wraps, and shirts.. i do none of that....
You know nothing about powerlifting. Real powerlifters have the three movements down to and exact science in the extreme. Stop by http://www.powermagonline.com/ some time, you might learn something.

because we have much more stress.. i weigh 205.. bench 405 without arching/wraps etc.... 19 yrs old.... 34 inch waist.. you on the other hand are most likely FAT.. like all powerlifters i meet... eww... why lift just to say "hey i can bench 700 lbs" when u look like shit..
There's only about a dozen lifters in the world that have benched over 700lbs, and yes of course they were all superheavys.

Go to a real powerlifting meet and tell me anyone in the 220lb and under class looks like shit.

man

I dont get it at all.

How many people walking around can bench 400lbs? I hear everybody saying that 400 aint shit, but see very few that can do it raw without bouncing the shit half way up and having their arms so far apart its funny. I go to many gyms in my area and can count on my hands and feet all the people that can get 400lbs ONCE with good form. Of those I can count on my hands the few that can rep it with good form. So alot of these "internet lifters" are spinning tales.

Hell in the NFL, 405 is a great lift. Its what eddie george benches and he is 240 cut. Is he weak? I dont think so.

I myself dont flat bench, but close grip bench(2 fingers in the smooth part of the bar) and can hit 4 plates for reps easy. So to all the guys not at 400 lbs yet, dont listen to that aint strong shit. 400 lbs is strong, but maybe not compared to the 700lb lifters out there, but to the other 99.9 percent of the population you will be strong as shit.

I dont see how people can talk down on that shit even when they have blasted past the mark. Its so arrogant. Like ted arcidi says, most these guys putting up these numbers with fucking wraps, shirts made from kevlar and all kinds of bullshit can barely hit a 500 raw lift.

Besides this has nothing to do with a how you look. This one guy I seen hit 400lbs 10 times looks like shit. Like he doesnt even lift. Than a built up bodybuilder in the same gym can only get it once, but has twice the muscle development.

I miss the days when I could press 385lbs for 3 reps with a spotter. But it just puts too much stress on my elbow tendons and rotator cuff. Anyone else have this problem? Curious.
consider some ART (active release) for your shoulders. Check out the site www.activerelease.com
Milos Sarcev almost underwent double shoulder surgery and overcame it by using it. If you love benching look into it.
