just curious as to how many of you prefer to work out with someone or work out alone

if you do have a partner do you have the same training goals/routine? do you feel like your 'carrying' that person by forcing him/her into the weights room everytime to workout, or are they a source of motivation for you

reason i ask is a friend asked me to help him train. he trained once a week with a rowing club doinf circuits (not very intense in terms of going to failure but good cardio [they did a 30 minute run before comingto the weights room].....but he gave that up for exam revision and never went bak to it, he only wants to train arms so only wants to train with me when i train and seemed shocked at the idea of training over the holidays. he also doesnt wanna work out alone as he thinks he lacks the motivation unless someone pushes him

id like to help him but i feel he might be dead weight slowing me down so i told him i usually work out alone but i can help him on another day and might join him if things go well. plus he's a friendand the last friend i was with was kinda shocked at the way i trained (im not a monster or anything but he was shocked at the concept of failure, i was too originally)

so....thoughts?

I train alone.

Mainly for 2 reasons.

1) I work rotating shifts, so I'm never in there at the same time.

2) I find, I stay more focussed without one.

You know, this is a good question..

I have had the most AWESOME trainer. She taught me A LOT.. She actually won the WSW competition in Africa and will be on ESPN soon...

I'm probably going to have to switch gyms. I'm trying to decide to do it alone or find a partner.... I have visions of getting squished.. Hee Hee.. :o :o :o

spotting isnt an issue as i have the gym has faliure bars for squatting and all my other lifts are non-dangerous or use dumbells.

but being squished is bad :)

I would like a training partner but there is not alot of people who train at 3pm. If there was I would love one who is focused and ready to push each other to new goals.

He'd definitely slow you down danielson.

Me? I left the best training partner i ever had when i moved. THis guy was like my brother. Share the same drive, discipline, everything. I could always count on him being there. Now I kinda feel lost without him. Funny thing is, for years i never had a partner and did fine. People like that come along once in a lifetime. Don't train with this guy you're talkin about danielson. it'll only serve to aggravate you.
