How have you needed to change your training in order to keep progessing?

As you've grown older, In what ways have you needed to modify how you train in order to continue moving towards your fitness goals?

For instance I know my dad says he needs more warm up sets these days to avoid injury.

Actually, I think that's what I need to do now. I need to change up my chest and back routine. I am fairly happy with my leg routine, since things are still progressing

But my chest and back are lagging.

Well, I don't train 6 days a week any more, and I make sure I'm more thoroughly warmed up and ready to engage in lifting that I used to. I don't know if it's because I'm getting older and am more aware of that need or just that I need it.

I still train as hard and heavy as I can. I think most of my changes have actually occured in diet. The kinds of things I eat have changed significantly as I aged.

The only thing I have changed is that I do one more warm up than I used to. I pulled a couple muscles for the first time in my life this spring and after fighting doing warm ups my whole life I just decided to cave. I don't know if it will help or not but it can't hurt. I have always trained 3 or 4 days with weights and 7 days of cardio (unless I am bulking) and currently I am weight training 4 days.
I had my vertebra fused and a plate put in my neck last year so it's been a shitty year of training. When I cut this winter I came up about 20 pounds light and subsequently I went back to bulking to find my lost mass.
So for me I'll keep progressing with the routine that I am doing, but it's progress to get back to where I was in the first place. I should end the summer at 220 8%.

Hot diggity dog! That's some good news. I'm 224 now with about 15%bf and am at the beginning of a bulking cycle. I'll have to report back in about 8 weeks.

I have always done a warm up set, but find myself stretching more before, during and after now that I'm a bit older.

definitely warmup longer before the heavy stuff and pay attention to the warning signs of burnout, or overtraining as they now call it, and give recovery more time to kick in.

I have asked someone else on the board to evaluate my routine, and see what changes need to be made in order to keep the work out fresh, and for me to keep growing. I've hit a plateau, and have taken a couple of weeks off to regroup, and then will hit the gym with a rested body and new routine.

I change my routine every 12 weeks. I take a week off in between each 12 week routine. I still keep in the basic movements, but then change the additional movements or alter the lifting style. Like right now I"m in a 5x5, after this is done I'll go back to a strict reps focusing on max range of motion. then...
