If you are looking to replace your MRP as Daisy Girl has suggested, I have had EXCELLENT results with SPIRUTEIN. The original (no flavors or additives) has about 2 gs of carbs total and is a SOY-based protein (has approx 14 grams of protein for one scoop and 90 calories...NO SUGARS). Soy is an added bonus for woman regardless, and when adding a "real" or "whole" food source to it, it basically just takes on the flavor of what you add to it and has a nice creamy texture...it's like dessert for me!

Almonds, natural peanut butter...or a few pieces of frozen strawberries, blueberries, mixed berries or a 1/4 of frozen bannana and/or frozen peach slices are great!

I have a question. What do you guys do for defining your quadraceps, high reps or what, on what machines. Give me some examples. I have stick like quads, but are muscular. Need some technique to get them to stand out.

Hi Stacy,

I 'ditto' the clean diet/heavy weights approach. I really wouldn't recommend the soy protein though. Aside from a whole list of problems with soy, you're better off with whey isolates anyway. The BV (availability of the protein to your body) of whey is much higher than soy. We were just talking about some problems with soy on a thread titled Soy Peanutbutter - if you want to read further.
I also noticed that you said you had cheese. How much cheese? I gave up dairy years ago and it made a huge difference in how my body held fat. You also have to watch out for 'soups' or anything packaged. That's typically where all the sugars, bad fats and other refined ingredients sneak in. Instead of eating shredded wheat, you might try experimenting with different whole grains for cereal (oats, barley, rye etc...). Breakfast, like Daisy said, is sooo important.
I don't know if it will help you, but I find it easiest to look at each meal instead of a whole day of eating. I always plan what I'm eating the night before and write it in my training journal. For every meal (there's six of them) I break it up into a carb, fat, and protein. My protein is all from lean, clean, organic sources (chicken, turkey, occasional organic grass-fed beef, egg whites). Carbs from sweet potatoes, barley, wild and brown rice, oats (mmm...love my oatmeal) etc... Fat from Udo's oil, flax/hemp seed oil, sometimes raw nuts... You get the picture. Sometimes it's just stepping back from what you're doing and looking at things a new way.

Good luck!!
Tara :)

When you say clean diet, you mean unprocessed foods? I've been taking soy protein for a while now. What are the problems with soy? Is it the problems with how much protein is in soy. I'm not sure what the difference is. Is whey make for a leaner body? <Confused>

Hi Stacy,

A clean diet, to me, is one with unprocessed, fresh foods (all the things I listed in my last post are an example). If you check out the soy pb thread, you'll find a link to a lot of reading material on soy. Often, we hear about the health benefits of soy using the argument that Japanese and other Asian countries have been using soy forever and they're all much healthier than we are. What is usually not mentioned is that these cultures used small amounts of FERMENTED soy products, not this process, denatured, genetically modified (GMO) soy that we are being told to use for our 'health'. Soy has a low Biological Value of 74. Whey isolates have a BV of 159 (whey concentrates - 104). There are an increasing number of studies that conclude that soy has estrogenic effects on the human body (not good if you want to build muscle). I wouldn't rule out soy all together if it's something that you enjoy, but I definitely wouldn't use it as my main source of protein. And I would also stick with the fermented, GMO-free soy. That being said, Whey is superior in so many, many ways. If you need more info on the whey PM me and I'll send you more info on whey than you'll ever need (I'm taking up too much room on this thread already!) :cow:

In response to the PM you sent me, I did send you that information, two weeks ago, on a private message.
