high carb/low carb

skinnyfat

How come it seems that many athletes who get and stay very lean are eating high carb diets and staying lean, while those who want to lose fat are going on low-carb diets?
For example kenyan runners eat almost nothing but carbs, yet stay extremely lean. Lance Armstrong lives on pasta during training and racing season. Granted, these guys aren't loaded with muscle, but the carbs don't seem to be hurting them in terms of bodyfat.
However, the powerlifters slug down dozens of eggs, and a lot of them are carrying a load of fat with their muscle. So maybe the best way to lose fat is hard cardio training and a high carb diet, just keep the overall calories in check. Or are these endurance guys just naturally lean?

you are forgetting that pro runners are mostly on t3,clen,epogen...so diet is not a main concern-the same way lifters who take a lot of roids can eat less strictly than natural lifters

I think people forget the role genetics play in how the body responds to diet. The fact is there are guys out there who can eat pretty much whatever they want and still stay lean.

Like the guy who posted this 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 diet. He put it out there and said basically that because it works for him, it will work for everyone else. And if you don't believe him, he wants to compare his pics with yours and that will determine who's right.

I'm sure the guy works hard, but my guess is that he could probably go on any diet out there and still look great. And that's as much because of his genetics than anything else.

The point is that there is not one diet you can do that someone on this board won't say is useless. There's no excercise routine you can do that someone won't tell you is a waste of time. You have to figure out what diet and excercise program work for YOU! For some, that can take years. It's a lot of trial and error. But I believe it's best not to worry about what other people can eat and look the way they look. They're that way mostly because God made them that way.

Damn man, sorry, got a little carried away there :D What was the question again?

Gymtime,

That's the most sensible-sounding advice anyone has ever given me on this board. I guess I really need to experiment more, listen to others A BIT less, and find out what works for me, and pay more attention to my body.
