Help with DEADLIFTS! They KILL my lower BACK!!!

Everytime I do deadlifts my back KILLS for days afterwards. It's fair to assume I have good form, atleast I think I do......I'm not sure if I should maybe get a weight belt, or what. I dont do stiff-legged I do full deadlifts. Can someone tell me a key to keeping perfect form, or maybe a video to see what I may be doing that differs from it resulting in my back aches?

What are you doing for ab work? If it's a "bad" killing of your lower back, then you might have a weakness in your abs. You abs support your back. You need to work them hard and heavy to support and protect your lower back.

For form videos, do a search through the boards. There have been lots of videos posted by guys and gals peforming deadlifts. Most of the posts have also been critiqued so you can see what was done right and what needs work in those different videos.

I dunno bro, are you doing weighted ab work, very high leg lifts? Post up your ab routine.

You could be lacking ROM and getting really tight at the bottom. How is your flexibility? How do you stretch?

You may have a problem and need some help <no input, sorry>

I used to have my back kill for days too. I also thought my form was fine. It wasn't. If you can post a video of yourself deadlifting and have the gurus pick it apart.

Well dead lifts kill my lower back as well..... If they didn't I would stop doing dead lifts... I'm a bit confused about the problem. You know its not a chest exercise right?

I was under the impression that he meant that it's more so hurting his back a bit and not so much a soreness. If it's a sorness in your back well thats deads for ya but if it's pain it's almost certainly your form.

Without seeing you perform the movement, it is difficult to say what happens. The most common reason (that I've seen) for back pain on a DL, is people tend to lock their legs first, and do almost a pseudo sldl. But as I said, without seeing it it's hard to say.

No, its not soreness, soreness I dont call a pain, I call it a good feeling :) This is definitely a BACK PAIN.....And unfortunately I dont have access to video or anything in my gym.....so I dont know. I've been trying to browse videos and stuff. I'll see whats wrong hopefully next backday.
