Some kind advice please for my plump girlfriend (post #1)

She is 5'0 170 she said today. large breasts so that is some of it but she keeps saying she is gonna get a tummy tuck and lipo. she truly believes that is how people get into shape is through plastic surgery then dieting next. She promised to do 6 months of a diet i give her and if that doesn't show any results she is gonna do the surgery. could someone please list some starting tips i can give her. her schedule is hectic has a daughter, work and then school at night so not home much. she will not eat red meat she says and likes vegetables. She drinks at least 2 gallons of water a day. also could someone give me some info on the complications of tummy tucks and plastic surgery. she says once she is thinner it will motivate her to follow a strict diet. help. any tips for dealing with a stubborn person like this or who has had a similar situation. thanks

PS she says she is gonna join weight watchers because she neds support. please someone help.

Interesting.

I have also been looking into an abdominoplasty..but because I've lost around 200 pounds...not because I want it to make me look thinner. MANY, if not all surgeons advise women to be at their correct weight anyway BEFORE they will perform the surgery. But in a few cases..they will do it because they want the 4000 to 6500 fee. Plastic surgery is not a means of perfection..it's a means of improvement. If she can't get into shape now, she sure as hell won't do it later. She is REALLY barking up the wrong tree here. The closer you are to normal/average weight for her height the better her results would be.

Most really awesome tummy tucks I've seen were of women who've A.) either lost enormous amounts of weight and had hanging skin and/or B. ) Have had several children and their abdominal wall is simply lax and needs tightened. (Which from what I've been told is horrendously painful and the most painful aspect of the procedure. )The problems with tummy tucks, is that it's done under general anesthesia...that in and of itself is dangerous. Secondly, you're in the danger of seroma or excessive fluid accumulation. They put in drains, but it can still be problematic. Thirdly, you can simply bleed to death. It's MAJOR surgery. And to get a good surgeon is EXPENSIVE. A good body contour (with medial thigh lift, back roll lift, etc.) can be nearly 10 G's. That is what I'm expecting to spend.

I'm sorry I don't know anything about lipo..but understand it CAN be just as dangerous. Look around the net. I'm sure you'll be able to find some horror stories.

HamsterHider, I would try to keep her away from any plastic surgery until she is closer to her ideal weight.. I also was considering lipo, I have since had a rethink after hearing that though the fat may not come back in that same place if your diet isn't on track it will still come back, then resultin in other trouble spots. Do a search on lipo and you will see some of the feedback I got from some of the knoweledgable elite members like MS.

I can understand the tummy tuck if indeed she has lost a large amount of weight and dosen't have good skin elasticity. I have seen magnificent results with the tummy tuck, but it is by no means the right way to lose weight.

Have her get on the board and do searching and ask plenty of question. I am by no means a diet guru but there are plenty here that can steer her in the right direction.

BTW, Does she do any type of weight training? If not that would be something I would suggest to her that would help her to shed some fat. Weight training and a good clean diet are my suggestions.

Hi..

Spatts has a cutting diet. You can do a search or simply look into one of the threads.

But to put it simply for you now... Have her cut the carbs to once maybe in the morning or for lunch. Just meat and vegtibles at night. If she is in a rush, help her with protein powders so that she can grab one when she's busy.

Alot of us here have children, i also have a daughter and a real tight sch. Does she belong to a gym? I know you have a 24 hour in Vegas. they have Day care there. I bring my daughter with me. On her days off school and weekends have her workout at the gym.

There are also alot of workout routine's on here you could search for too!!
Let her know that lipo and plastic surgery is NO WAY to solve her problems. We ALL have busy scheldules. I too, wanted to go to weight watchers then asked around and all the people i know on those plans end up getting big again!! I know many woman who have had plastic surgery, then went back to old habits and gained double in other parts of there bodies.

She needs to be willing to workout and cut out all the bad food.
