Healthy?

So for breakfast I like three fried eggs(fried with Pam low fat spray), and three pieces of wheat toast.

Is this a healthy breakfast?

I'm a little fuzzy on complex carbs vs. simple carbs. I know simple carbs are BAD, but how much is too much complex carbs(as in wheat toast)?

3 pieces of wheat toast is only like 200-300 calories depending on the density/quality of the bread. That's not too much at all.

Eggs are good. Throw in a whey shake in there for some extra protein and a 1/2 cup of oatmeal.

Also, a banana or some fruit of some kind. Or orange juice. just something. The food pyramid really is a good thing to follow.

Simple carbsa aren't "bad". They just aren't very helpful in keeping your blood sugar stable, which a high blood sugar makes you store fat.

Well to me that means they're bad because fat is the last thing I want my body to store.

What about the complex carbs?

whar are your fitness goals? age? sex? hight? weight? body fat? this question cant be answered without this info.

What about the complex carbs?

You can eat simple carbs and not store them as fat. It depends on when you take them. You won't store simple carbs post workout and in the morning (if you have a conservative amount A.M. anyways). Your body will use them for muscle recovery and energy.

If you take simple carbs by themselves while you're watching tv, you're gonna store fat.

It's also a matter of the certain carb's glycemic index.

What do you mean "What about the complex carbs?" What about them?

Why do poeple say that they're ok? Do they not sit around as fat too?

Yes. Complex low GI carbs also are stored as fat. But at a different rate. low GI carbs are digested slowly and the body ends up just using them for energy. But, extra energy not used by the body is stored as fat. It is minimal compared to high GI carbs.

High GI (GI = glycemic index) simple carbs (sugars mainly) digest quickly, jack your blood sugar and insulin through the roof, and your body stores the energy as fat at a fast rate. Fantastic for post workout recovery, but terrible for middle of the day when you are just snacking on something.

Many women go on diabetic diets when pregnant. The hi GI carbs make the babys over weight and unhealthy.

Simple carbs are fine. Just use them in moderation. If you are trying to get down to sub 8% BF, then avoid them as much as possible. Otherwise, some here and there isn't gonna hurt one bit.

My goals are the same as everyone...drop BF while building LBM.

Side question...anyone have a way to spice up boiled eggs? Just plain boiled eggs aren't very good.
