Going out with the psych chick tomorrow

Bobber

Well-known member
After a week stint in the psych hospital, she called me and since my little brother bailed on me last second I invited her to go to the Orioles game with me instead. Did I mention she is fuckin hot?

who was in the psych ward for a week? her? you? your brother? Huh?

I'm confused.

Nothing wrong with dating the psych chick as long as she is taking her meds - if not, you know what you're getting yourself into.

JHL - If yall are good I will post em.

Heather - She just got out.

Human Target - You have hit the nail n the head!

Stefka - I have dated bipolars before.

im glad you finally found someone as crazy as you

LOL!!! Thanks man.

I asked her what meds she was on on our way to the ball park and she told me Litihum and Geodon along with a couple others that are not as serious. Needless to say that kinda freaked me out. Did I mention how badly I wanted to bite her ass as she was walking up the stairs to go to the bathroom?

Post pics.

Aye people - not all who are in psych wards are truly "psychotic," or "killers."

Some people just need to figure things out and they go there if they have depression, major anxiety, BPD, Schizo.. but MOST of these people are not harmful to others and many self admit themselves.

This sounds like a confession. So why were you there?

I was never in one. I volunteer at different mental health facilities and the profession I am going into will be focusing a LOT on abnormalities.

I assure you that these people are much safer than society makes you think.

Yeah. Last week we had a local decapitate his mom with an AK-47 after he stopped taking his meds.

20 years ago, my Aunt drove her car thru a corner store, put her car in reverse, and tried to drive off.

I'm feeling safer every day

So generalize.. 95% of the time, that doesn't happen. Obviously you're going to hear the worst of the worst.. just like the news.

Mentally ill people can cause non-public related problems too. I'm not talking about people with mild depression or stress related illness. True mental illness is a nightmare and these people are not safe when off their meds.

I agree to an extent. Some ALWAYS need their meds while others don't. But, society has a demented view about mental illness. Plain and simple.

Because society would rather be "safe than sorry". Look at the war in the middle east. We attacked two countries based on less than 30 people slipping thru airport security with box cutters.

I have a relative with mental illness. It's been 25 years of her asshole disease and fruitcake behavior. The majority of mentally ill have the ability to slip back into illness...and that possibility...is exactly why we treat mentally ill people that way.

Do you want to lose your life to someone who forgot (or did not feel like) to take their drugs today?

Those 95% you claim are safe also can slip back into illness at any point.

lol you assure us huh? I've had a guy try to stab me with a screwdriver in a hospital.. I've had a girl try to kill herself in front of me.. I've seen numerous people continually banging their heads against the walls

these people are walking coma's when they are in there. They call it a hospital but in actuality it is a prison, hence why the "patients" have no rights to anything.

what do you do as a volunteer? They don't allow random people into these hospitals unless your out front away from patients

You're more likely to get hit by a car or in a car accident than get killed by a mentally ill person.

Not where I'm at. These people are not in patient. Some have been, some have been just released. I deal mostly with people with Schizophrenia, Personality Disorder, BPD, depression/anxiety, Substance abuse comorbid with other disorders...

And once I start for my Doctorate and declare my concentration, I will be placed in an internship which I am very much looking foward to.

I was simply stating (my first post), that our society tends to have a HUGE stigma/stereostype about the mentally ill. Most of which is completely inaccurate. You ask the average joe on the street a question about just say a person w/ schizophrenia, I bet you anything his assumptions won't be accurate.

Thanks captain obvious! This couldn't have anything to do with the number of cars on the road vs mental patients in hospitals could it?

Statistics, Einstein. Numbers solve that issue. That's the beauty of statistics.. They can compare different numbers and representations and it can be accurate based off of the statistical formulas used.

Give me a break... are you serious with this statement?

a simple comparison on the incidence of these two events using relative-risk estimation would solve this (with confidence intervals of course) however I would guess its a pretty straight forward answer based on face validity.

And you presented none, good job!

No, I'm just a smartass, its my nature. I am serious when I say I'd like to knock the bottom out of you :qt:

You went from posting every minute or two to MIA for 40 minutes, I take it your frantic search for statistics yielded nothing?
What? No - I don't sit on the message boards. I'm not going to waste time/energy searching for these things.. Not to mention I could search the psychology database that I have from my school but honestly, I am not going to expend that much energy to convince a few peeps who really think they know what they're talking about. :)

The conversation went stray - my point was missed, I guess.

P.S. I was eating... that's why i was gone.

A simple, "You were right Puddle" would have done :)

I spent about 6 months doinig an Internship at one of the State's Mental Health Inpatient Facility (Tinley Park) on the Men's floor, locked unit.

WOW. I saw some interesting stuff. IP, I was about your age when I was there. The mens really liked me. I dont recommend this kind of experience to the weak or thin-skinned.

Damn...yall take this shit seriously! All I wanted was a few "fuck the shit out of her anyways" to make it ok in my mind.
