Getting Back on Track

Well, I'm finally getting back on track after my surgery. I still can only perform minimal "active" motion with my shoulder. Right now, it's mostly passive. I am right on schedule with the protocol for rehab though. The physical therapy place I'm going to is very sports focused and fairly advanced in their techniques.

In the meantime, in the month since surgery (not being able to lift), I've dropped 7lbs and am down to 117. I haven't seen this weight since high school 11 years ago. I realize I've probably lost about 5lbs of muscle and only 2 of fat. I've been sticking to a strict diet (for me anyway). I've been doing cardio and just started to add legs back in on pre-loaded machines. I've also started to do some light arm work with my left arm only. At first, I was upset about losing the muscle, but I have to accept it for now.

My goal is to lose as much fat with this diet, cardio and light leg work during the next 3 months of rehab. I won't get back to my normal training routine until at least January. I figure by the time I can get back to my normal routine, I will have the least amount of fat I've ever had and will be able to start gaining muslce with almost a clean slate (except for that wonderful muscle memory)! :D

Sounds like you are thinking much more positive than you were a month or so ago! :) Thatta girl!!

Glad things went smoothly with surgery....it seems like you have a good plan and a great state of mind right now! :)
