full range motion

ok i watched ron coleman the unbelievable and on this documentary on disc and i see

the bodybuilders making very short movements

bench press range of motion 8/10 inches
no lock out not even close

is this messed up or am i doing it wrong
i lockout and use a full range of motion
 
The huge swole-ass guys at my gym who do 175 dumbell press only tend to have a short range of motion. maybe its good for power if you push up real fast and have a short range of motion.

Maybe they're so gifted in terms of genetics and the amt of gear they use, the stress from those partial movements is enough to shock their muscles into hypertropy. Or they're just so big they are physically unable to go the full range.
 
bro when your muscles are so big, you have to do one thing and that is stretch, a skinny guy with no muscle mass can easily take the bar to his chest on bench press, but a guy like me or a pro, you have to take the bar to the point to where your muscle is so stretched that you cant go down any further, due to big muscles, but they can do a full range.............as far as locking out, you never lock out, that takes all the stress of the weight off the muscles. Like when doing bench press, you should take the bar to like 1/2" from your chest dont let it touch, and then go up to 1/2" from the lockout stage, so you will always have stress on the muscle being worked............and as far as advance training goes, there are many types of reps, full-range reps, partial reps, cheat reps, they should all be incorporated into your routine.
 
I've trained both ways, total full range, very strict, and also alot heavier weight, partial reps, honestly physique wise, I had no difference. I guess it's just personal preference, or whatever works better for someone.
