Flax Seed Question

I am going to incorporate flax seeds into my diet, but am unsure about something. I am not going to use the oil, I want the seeds - the fiber from them especially.

Should I use the seeds whole or buy a grinder to grind them? Which way is better? WHY?

I know you can use them both ways, but I swear I read somewhree that grinding them is better. I was hoping someone knew conclusively or had some articles for me. :)

I think I am going to err on the side of grinding, like you are.

Anyone else?

I have also read in numerous places that you must grind them for the body to obtain any benefit from the flax seeds as, whole, they are too tough to be broken down in the stomach & will simply pass thru as is.....

yep.

and the result of not grinding them is nasty...

I had to stop taking flax-seed altogether, developed some sort of stomach issue (I would get mad pain after eating them...).

I'm taking a 2 months pause with them and will see again later, in the meantime, walnut oil for me
