Finding it hard to lose fat of the stomach

seems like fat is coming of everywhere.. but much slower of the stomach i have gaven up on sit-ups as have been told they dont burn the fat.. my cardio is 5 days a week running...
are there any exercises i could do to melt the stomach fat?

Anyone else have problems with fat not coming of in specific areas.

losing stomach fat is all about your diet. keep up the ab work and the cardio. to have visible abs you need a pretty tight diet. you could post your diet and have others here critique it.

Yeah, usually stomach fat(lower stomach fat especially) is very hard to shed, and last to do so. It is a matter of staying with diet and training. At a certain bodyfat, your body will start to fight back.

From early times, your body is programmed for survival, not to look good at the beach. When you are cutting calories in an attempt to get to single digit and very low bodyfats, the body will "catch on" so to speak and actually learn/strive to store fat in anticipation of what it percieves as starvation. It is a protection mechanism, probably programmed from times past, running through endless deserts, being chased by perdators, etc. This is typically in the area you speak of.

You cannot spot reduce, situps or any ab work for that matter do not burn fat in the abdominal region, spot reduction is impossible. They do however add to calorie burn, and this is where the mistaken notion ever started.

I would also say your body will hang on to the stomach fat mostly because it is your center of gravity. It's easier for the body to carry it there than anywhere else. So while you see everything else shrink, your stomach may not match the other parts of your body.

At least that's my take on the situation.

And lifterforlife, I love your take on the diet matter. K to you.

It's all about patience

and diet

and training

and cardio

(quite a long list, right?)

Think of the fat on your body as layers on an onion, they will come off, eventually, some parts faster than others (it depends also on wether you are a male or a female). As a general rule, fat will come off first from the places where it was stored last ("fresh" fat), parts that have been fat for years will take longer.

Think about it, you didn't get fat overnight, don't expect it to go off overnight either
