diet question

How isnt it...there are massive studies that specifically show that greater carb intakes lead to over ranging insulion release which specifically blunts any fat loss as long as blood sugar is elevated. That means that even on a less than maintenance cals...bodyfat cannot be burned.....

that is a pretty much accepted fact.

You're correct about the calories.

But linking a rise in American obesity to the change in types of calories consumed definitively rejects all other factors such as exercise whcih could also explain the phenomena.

Even economic perfromance can be tied to fluctuations in obesity among the population, as well as efforts at health awareness. Look at those cities who successfully campaigned to llower their rating as Americas most obese cities.

In point of fact his use of the Atkins Diet to evidence his point only proves yours.

It works precisely because the type of calories consumed (fat/proteins) in essence starve the body and cause it to draw on fat reserves.

Most standard, established diets (including University diets) are high in complex carbohydrates.
The same is true about NIH guidelines.
All that mumbo-jumbo was created by Dr. Atkins.
The whole medical community have always opposed Dr. Atkins woodoo that had no scientific basis.
Thank god that is over and now people are back to eating sensible diets.
Thermal effect of food has very little practical effect.

All that has been discussed in 'Reno Diet-Heart Study: Obesity Assessment: Tools, Methods, and Interpretations' from University of Navada School of Medicine, Reno. It is available on Amazon.com.

you didnt specifically address any of my examples...

you keep referring back to an Atkins dies whcih I have never mentioned in this thread...

biologically, there is NO need for carbs in the diet...thers is no such thing as an "essential" carbohydrate......the body can cleave a nitrogen group for a protein and covert it to sugar via gluconeogenesis...if you eat an atkins type macro diet but get your fats form healthy sources...there really are NO health issues with a low carb diet
