Close grip presses

When I do close grip presses it irritates my shoulder on the front delt, like a mild dull pain. What should I do to replace this movement but not hinder tricep growth? I love these but I cant really even go that heavy on them like 150lbs is my max and anything after starts to hurt the shoulder.

Im trying to get my arms up to 18-19 range and I really wanna start blasting the triceps into that new growth but I am not sure what to replace this movement with

switch from multi joint workout to a single joint movement. dips, tricep pulldown, etc or possibly get your shoulder checked. could be a potential problem. my shoulder is fucked and it really makes blasting the rear head of my shoulder pretty difficult. i always liked behind the head shoulder presses. cant do em anymore

yeah workin out isnt written in stone, everybodys body is different, reacts differentyl, likes different things, different injuries etc. if some dont work for you switch it up a little. diff grip, different width of hand positining on the barbell, some ppl just plain and simple cant do certain maneuvers, but if it dont feel right, figure something else out your body agrees with

Agreed. I experienced the same pain. As they said, I moved my hands around and found a good spot. No two people are the same.. just gotta find a width that works well for you..

Careful with dips though they are known to cause shoulder pain in a lot of people. Thats kind of surprising that your should hurt going close. It seems like for most people cgbp is a lot easier on your shoulders. Does regular grip benching hurt too?

I do close grip bench shoulder width apart. I also had issues until I started going shoulder width apart
