hey everyone...i just got back from an exhausting day at the gym with the 5x5 routine :) (with an extra set of curls and an added set of hypers because i had extra time before i could get picked up)

anyways...i just got home and made myself a pita with cheese and olive oil in it (if you're wondering why what i'm eating is unusual- its arabic because i am arabic :garza: ) anyways...let me give you the nutritional breakdown of everything in the sandwich:

1 pita bread: calories: 139 fat cal: 0
total fat: 0g
saturated fat: 0g
polyunsaturated fat/monounsaturated fat: 0g
cholesterol: 0 mg
sodium: 158 mg
total carbs: 29 g
dietary fibers: less than 1g
sugars: less than 1 g
protein: 5g
vitamin A/C: 0%
iron: 10%
calcium: 0%
thiamin: 20%
niacin: 10% (what are these last 3? healthy? bad)
Riboflavin: 10%

now the 5 slices of cheese (ill mult. serving by 5 b/c 1 serving = 1 slice)
calories: 625
fat cal: 450 (ouch...bad right?)
total fat: 50g
saturated fat: 30g
cholesterol: 150 mg
sodium: 2200 mg
dietary fibers/sugars: 0g
protein: 42.5
vitamin A: 7%
vitamin c: 0%
calcium: 37.5%
iron: 0%

and finally 2 tablespoons of olive oil on top (multiplying everything by 2 because 1 tbsp = 1 serving):
calories: 250 cal from fat: 250 :(
total fat: 28 g
saturated fat: 4 g
sodium: 0 mg (:))
total carbs: 0g
protein: 0 g

ok thats the entire breakdown of the sandwich i just had after my workout...i ate it with my protein shake (22g) that has very FEW carbs in it as well

so i was wondering...would something like this be ok right after a workout? like...can my body use all these carbs n fats i'm taking in or is it just pretty much demolishing everything i just worked for in the gym?

also..i have a kind of off topic question...ive increased my protein intake to 2 scoops a day...(44g total protein)...i was wondering if i should take ALL of this at once? or is it too much for my body to take in and will just throw it away? should i take half of it right after my workout and maybe the other half after i eat and shower (giving it time...maybe about an hour or 2 later?)

thanks :)

Generally you want carbs with less fat post workout because fats digest slower and your body needs energy fast.

oh...so i can eat this before i workout? or is it still too high in fat? i can eat this before my workout i guess...but after i come back and im really hungry what should i eat? a few egg whites? or im going to buy alot of tuna soon so i can check out that albacore stuff everyone is talking about i guess i could eat that after a workout

You need carbs and protein post workout. Mostly carbs, some protein. I usually eat a banana, bowl of spaghetti and a bowl of rice with a protein shake.

Eat more fats and slow burning protein and carbs before you workout.

After your workout, eat fast burning carbs and quick digesting protein. I usually mix Powerade with 2 scoops of protein after my workout. That gives me about 44 g protein and 40-70 g of carbs (quick digesting), something like that. Then I go and eat at home or try to within the first hour after training.

Post workout, I eat a cup of oatmeal with two scoops of vanilla protein powder.. little milk to make it look like oatmeal cookie dough.. even though its actually about 120 grams of protein and only 24 carbs.. then 5 hardboiled eggwhites, mixed in with a can of albacore tuna and a just a bit of olive oil.. litre of water..

right now i'm coming home from the gym and usually taking 3 egg whites + a 22g protein shake (once this batch of protein is done...i'm definitely gettin some 45g/shake protein instead of this 22g crap)

i still have to go to the store and try to find dextrose...i just hope i can find it and not have to order the stuff online...i'm gonna check the market and GNC if either of them have it...if not are there any other local stores that would have it?

I bought a huge vat of Carb up (maltodextrin) cost was $15, I mix it with my protein mix on a 1-1 ration, I get 27 g of each immediatly post-workout and eat a meal with protein and complex carbs within the next 90 minutes.

Protein Is Worthless From Everything I've Read W/o That Carb Shuttle...when I First Cut, I Tried To Nix The Carbs, Got Me No Where Very Fast.

You can simply add 50g of protein and 30g of dextrose and 30g of maltodextrin to your PWO Shake. It works wonders

just got my dextrose n malto...lol its in clear bags n looks like cocaine...theres no way to measure this stuff since its just a box n clear bags with the sugar sub. in it...does anyone know how i can measure it? like a tsp of dextrose = how many grams? i think there was a post about measuring it if anyone could link me id appreciate it...thanks

The way I did it bro is find something else that is powder in your house and see how many grams a serving it is, I used some crystal light that I had and it was like 19g a scoop so I just add about 1 or 1/5 of my malto and dextrose to my protein shake. This was the fastest way I came up with to make it work.

the way i did it is according to the lable for each 1/2 cup is 80grams
so 1/2 = is 40 g
1/4 cup is 20 grams now goal is 30 grams so measure a 1/4 cup and
then an 1/8 cup comes out to around 30 grams
now if u dont want ot measure exactly each time
what i did was poured it into a protine scoop and marked it
witch it was half a scoop so i put
3 scoops protine = 60 grams
1/2 scoop dextrose 30 g
1/2 scoop malto 30 g now i have a preety acurate messurement

but this is just me

do you have a scale? a digital scale (worth maybe 20US$ is an investment when you are cutting).

if not, a measuring tablespoon (leveled) of dextrose is about 12.5 grs

a heaped (not huge though) measuring tablespoon of maltodextrine is abnout 10grs (lighter than dextrose)
