Calorie Cycling?

Zaes

New member
Whats your opinion on this? Id like to drop 3-4 pounds a week for this month then aim for 2-3 pounds a week next month. I know 3-4 is a lot per week but I have an event coming up that I would like to have that weight dropped by. A neighbor recommended calorie cycling... I have no clue how to even do that in order to lose weight so figured Id bring it here for info and advice

Hey Zaes! In your other post you state that you are still very unsure as of what to eat in regards to your diet. I realize that you want to drop weight quickly, but I honestly think that you should keep it as simple as possible in the beginning of your journey. Take time to read the stickys here, follow the diet program the other ladies are helping you create and work from that. If you take on too much in the beginning, and if your diet program becomes too involved you may find that you just can't stick with it. Calorie cycling is something you could consider when you hit a plateau. For now I would educate myself, stay true to the program the ladies are helping you with, perhaps start a journal here, you will see results! :)

calorie cycling has never done crap for me other than make me hungry on days of vlc

carb cycling just puts me into potential binging behavior
but then I can't even handle a cheat day without getting out of control unless I limit it to say...a loaded baked potato
paleo works well for me with intermittent fasting but i'm currently off that due to dr prescribed diet for A1c and insulin sensitivity
gettin pretty frustrated with how its going tho..pretty pissed I cant have any dairy or grains of any kind at the moment

basically eating clean and keeping a calorie deficit is the way to go...best way to avoid hunger seems to be insoluble fiber for me

Ya I looked at the clean grocery list link and sample diet and have put together some simple meals that do not really take a lot of effort so Im just going to continue watching what I eat, I started a food journal that counts the calories for me so that is def helping.. I looked into the paleo diet but I think that might be a little to strict for me. My biggest problem is... I am an emotional eater. If Im bored, I snack... and when I get stressed I snack... I pretty much snack whenever there is nothing else to do... and thats getting me in trouble.

Amen!! Plus is a royal pain in the rear trying to count everything differently day in and day out....at least for me, anyway. I'd save this type of thing for further down the road. It can be useful when you are trying to get rid of those last few lbs.

Starting out, just keeping yourself within a calorie limit and counting what you are eating, will make a huge difference. 3-4 lbs a week may not be realistic over the long term but you may see more then that starting out.
