Bulking on low/moderate carbs

New member
Read a few people like bulking on a CKD, don't think I am brave enough to give that a try but I think I am going to shoot for 250g carbs next time I bulk.

Will probably start bulking in 1-2months. It won't really be a bulk cause I don't plan on gaining much, if any, fat while gaining muscle.

This is my plan:

20 X Bodyweight in Calories
2 X Bodyweight in Protein (I usually take in less protein, but I think it is important to increase it on lower carbs)
1 X Bodyweight in Carbs, maybe slightly more
Rest of calories from fat

Most of my carbs will come from oats. Although I will drink a glass of cranberry juice right before and after working out. I plan on keeping all carbs complex, except pre and post workout.

How's this look? Do you guys think that I should increase my calories even further since the carbs aren't high?

Also, I heard mention of Dave Polumbo using low carbs for bulking, does anyone know where I could find his diet?

Thanks a lot everyone. :)

I don't plan on using this plan till mid-september or october. :)

I searched for info on Polumbo's diet as will as Bill Kazimier who also eats low carb and could not find a thing. If you find it please post it.

I think protein even slightly higher than 2xbw wouldn't be bad, if you can afford it -- that's a damn lot of protein.

I've read a lot of bad things about oatmeal lately -- I don't know if they're true or not but I'll look for some of the articles.

You probably should have a carb up sometime, even 250g carbs daily really isn't that much. With most of the bulking low carb diets I've seen, the lack of carbs is simply to reduce hormonal levels that will lead to more fat gain which is why you eat a small number daily -- so you burn fat rather than carbs -- and a huge number for carb ups, so it's stored rather than burned for daily function and can be used for protein synthesis.

I really don't know much about them, but I'm going to try bulking low carb also.

Right, the higher protien seems to work well. I'm gaining size very well right now on roughly 500 gram of protien a day.

Hey bro, what's your bodyweight and how many calories are you taking?

I know you are doing a CKD type diet, that's why I am asking.

Thanks a lot. :)

Weighing 224 today. Started at 200 ibs. Averaging about 5200 cals a day. Protein is around 500 grams, carbs averaging about 40 grams.

5 weeks. Some of it is water though. Probably 10 ibs of it. I just cut my test prop out (going to run just tren and eq, going to add a low dose of winny for a little while) and am lowering my sodium intake. That should help with the water. Still, several people have commented on the fact that I definately look bigger.

How much of it do you think is fat?

Thanks.

Very little if any. CKD, tren, t3, and doing cardio? Pretty hard to gain bf, even on high cals. I've gained all lbm and water before when doing a ckd. My skinfolds are measuring the exact same also, so shouldn't be an increase in bf.
