bowflex sucks

hello guys, i have a bowflex sport that ive been using for about a year now, and ive decided to sell it to a friend of mine for $400 and i bought it for $800 brand new. im gong to use that $400 and buy a free weight set and bench. my diet is alright and before i purchased the bowflex, i went to a gym "new york sports club". ive had better results using the free weights then i did with the bowflex by far. the thing that sucks is, when you bech press for example, you have to go really really really slow when you push out and then really really slow when you bring it back in so you can actually work your muscles. i wouldnt recomend this gym. alot of people here told me to ditch the bowflex and stick to free weights, well they were right. thanks guys. nothing compares to free weights, so im decinding on buying the 2, havent made up my mind yet, but can someone give me their opinion on which if the 2 benches i should get. thanks

heres the golds gym xrs 20 bench: $135

and heres the phoenix olympic bench: $150 http://www.sportsauthority.com/prod...&cp=710956.710958.1170115&parentPage=category

both are olympic width

just give me an opinion.

thanks alot

bowflex should be sued for a faulty product and false advertising. Every single model that's working out on that commercial is seriously juiced or was at one point. I've known so many people who bought that piece of crap thinking that they would look like that...

yeaa. TO EVERY1 THINKIN ABOUT BUYING ONE, DONT. its not as easy as they say it is. "20 minutes a day, 3 times a week for that body you always wanted" BULL FUCKING SHIT. sopposevly the weight ratio is exactly like free weights meaning 1 pound of resistance on bowflex is equal to 1 pound on free weights. thats not tru. first of all, tension is not the same weight through the whole movement. it goes up feeling light ass hell, then goes up to maximum tension, thats it. but with free weights, you know if you curl a 50 pound dumbell, that its 50 pounds all the way through. bowflex is just like the thousands of abdominal gadgets saying you will lose that stubborn fat, tru, only if you use the diet that it comes with. god damn, obviously you can lose weight if you use the diet, but wats the point of the piece of crap i just bouhgt? so i paid $800 for the diet? trust me, its a wasted of money.

but besides the fact that bowflex really sucks, can anyone help me out on which home bench i should buy?

yea the dumbells are about the only thing "Bowflex" has that works. obviously cuz they're free weights. but $400??? your fucking crazy for spending that much money on 2 dumbells maxing out at 52.5 pounds each. oh yea, they give you a free stand that "retails at $200" haha. bowflex is the biggest joke

Yeah the dumbells are the only thing worth it. I traina client on his and I am so fucking bored!shity machine

tried it at a sporting goods store and was shocked howshitty it was. Don't dumbells only go up to like 75 or something like that?

i own the select tech DB's from bowflex.... i dont' reccomend them.

they break easily.

Good job on investing in some true weight lifting equipment.

Out of the 2 options, it doesn't look like the bench in the Phoenix setup separates from the rack, which means you can't use it for squats, which means it's no use to you. The Golds bench looks better - the bench declines and there are spotter bars to catch the weight on a failed lift. I've no idea what else you could get in that price range.

LOL. Nobody else going to help this guy out? He knows it's garbage and wants to replace it. Anybody recommend a similarly cheap rack?

Well I guess that's why Bowflex invented the 'Revolution', if you can pony up $2500.

And then I saw this one on TV recently:

http://www.bioforcetnt.com/scripts/cgiip.exe/WService=bf/itemdetl.html?item=6-206-BT&src=ADW31010

Bio Force has TNT for Total Nitrocell Technology – Each Bio Force™ uses two nitrogen-charged cylinders to create resistance. These cylinders provide Bio Force™ with its amazingly smooth fluid resistance and offer true resistance through the full range of motion. Work your muscles effectively from the very beginning of the rep… the middle… and the end…Each time – every time!

ROFL. Great infomercial though. Heather Mitts

As far as a rack, I agree with AB get one without the bench attached so you can squat, do OHP and so forth. You should be able to find one on craigslist, easily.

Meanwhile, we all have to put up with moving weights against gravity

wut about those adjustable dumbells they have, those look pretty slick to me.

A friend of mine has the adjustable dumbells and I will definitely recommend those, although the ones he has in particular stop at 55 lbs. (it is a legit 55 at least)

the only thing that sucks about the golds gym is that, it doesnt include the lat tower. what do you guys think?

I would find a "Play it again sports" or other used equipment store and buy a BASIC flat bench. Non-adjustable, 11" wide, SIMPLE. Then, buy a york power rack, and you are all set.
