OK i am going to ask the ladies this one because a man in my situation is somewhat of a rarity but if there are any men that are single dads such as myself I mean no offense but you have to admit there not a lot of us out there or at least there seems not to be.
Ok here it goes I am a single dad and have 2 boys im raising they are 10 and 6. Both of them are into Kenpo and when school starts back I already promised them id start training in Kenpo with them, yes this is becoming a household of athletes and I guess the example im setting is paying off.
For about the past year I have changed a lot of things about my lifestyle or gotten back into living a healthy lifestyle that I got away from during the past 8 years of a horrible marriage. In November I was pushing the scales at 296 Lbs since then with a very clean diet and back into weight training and cardio I am back down to 255 Lbs and can actually see an outline of a stomach again.
I have gone completely into a low carb lifestyle and now its second nature and nothing that I have to work at anymore. Lately my boys are both following suite and wanting to eat like their dad. I am already getting the “Dad I just want the hamburger with cheese and no bread” My 6 year olds favorite meal has become steak with steamed broccoli any way that is what im dealing with and I think it’s a good thing but im not real sure about the carb requirements for kiddos.
So any of you fitness moms out there could you give me some input into just how close should I allow my boys to eat the way I do. I am already thinking about asking a kids doc about it but we all know most doctors do not have a clue about proper nutrition. I thought this would be a good place to ask because im sure there are moms out there that eat clean and train and have children.
Both my boys are at a great body weight for there age but I just want to make sure im feeding them right but at the same time I am trying to build some good health practices that will carry with them for a lifetime because I do not want either of them to have to go through the battle with fat like I have because they where raised and taught bad eating habits like me and my sisters were.
