Bars for Desert?

JKurz1

Banned
Anyone toss in a bar or two after "lunch" or their thrid meal as a little treat and to kick up the protein a little bit? I would like to stay lean <9% and have been weary as to the effects of most bars...HOWEVER, I did find a ABB zero sugar bar that looks pretty damn tempting.......please advise.

You and your bars!
JKurz i've dissapointed, you've become a bar fiend :(
The Hydrogenated oils and geletine hve gotten to you my man! and that glycerine is playing tricks on your brain!

Not just yet....no one will give me an accurate response to the bars...I need something sweet after lunch....some type of reward.......ABB has NO hydro. fats...............

I read an article somewhere that claimed that even the sugar-free bars had as dramatic an insulin effect as the sugared ones. Could you post a link or give the nutrition info and ingredients on the package of ABB bars? I don't think it will kill you, but personally I'd prefer to reach for a whole food instead of a processed one -- even to fill a sweet craving. What about some plain nonfat yogurt with cinnamon and splenda, or a piece of fruit, etc.?

I've also found it helpful to just break the sweets post-meal habit...and I'm a sweet fiend! (Although I'm in a mass gaining phase right now, plus holiday treats are popping up all over the place, so I'm not nearly as militant about it). For me, it was easier to go cold turkey than to try to find a replacement that just made me crave sweets even more.

Not to play devil's advocate, but did you ever think of a small piece of candy like a Hershey's kiss or two post-meal? At 25 kcals per (and I'm sure the small amount of sat. fat in one or two won't sabotage your diet) they can fulfill the sweet tooth and won't wreck your goals if used very moderately. I'd almost rather reach for a chocolate than recommend a bar, generally. But JMO! :D

Well, the ABB do not effect insulin levels...and if they do, they are minimal......be careful because many fruits and yogurts are LOADED with sugars........sugar free jello is an idea, just wanted a nice, semi-sweet BAR damn it!!!! Kidding...oh well...it's just that I have a case and dont wanna waste them..........I kind of view bars like bread and dairy....some people swear by them.....others swear at them....I, for one, NEVER use bread products, but do have a little skim milk and cottage cheese...........and I never use bars, but I do have a myoplex daily....so, who knows....

dude...if you need something sweet eat a fruit and drink one scoop flavored whey....beats any bar out there on the market!
