Back Problems

Ok so im 20 years old. I recently have started doing more heavy leg workouts, which i never really did in the past, for some reason. Such as squats, deadlifts, straight legged dead lifts. I didn't just start or anything, and didn't start out too heavy or anything like that. Made sure i was using good form because i know the stress it can put on your back. Now for the past week, going on two weeks now, i have had a nagging pain in my lower back. I skipped the hard routine the past week but it still hasn't gone away. Its basically the pain as if i was to lean over and pick something up. Also if i sit upright in a certain position it can begin to hurt a bit. I am headed to the doctor to get it checked out next week, but i was curious if anyone had any knowledge of what could be goin on and any other details or suggestions, thanks.

when people start doing heavier workouts the first thing they strain is the lowere back and the knees cause of the severe increse of weight. Best thing to do is go see a chiropractor to see if you spine is in perfect alignment or you might have a slight sublexation of you lower lumbar or a slight misalighnment of your sacrum. go back to the weight you normally use and add 10 lbs every week, this will help your lower back out by not jumping up so much weight. Try to stretch your back after squats and deads. Also hanging orks wonders for your lower back.

Train your abs!!! Train them heavy and in full range!!! No crunches or machines...train them very very heavy!!!!

I do train my abs. And yes consistently and like you said. I never really did a big jump or anything with the heavy workouts. I havent even done any at all the past couple of weeks due to the back pain, which hasn't gone away, and that is why i am wondering what is up. I could see if i kept working out my back, but i've laid off any heavy leg workouts due to it. I'm headed to the doctor on tuesday like i said. I was just curious if anyone knew anything to maybe relieve it until then. It can be a pain at times.

You should be doing some light abs even now. If you can not do a full sit up, pull yourself up to the top and then just lower yourself down for a few sets of 5 or 10 reps.

You can also take ibuprofen at 600mg 3x a day for 14 days or take orudis kt too. I love the orudis kt actually, take 3 a day, 3x a day for 3 days, 2 a day 2x a day for 2 days, then one a day when needed.

you have the same problem I use to have....exactly the same...what I did was upt the rep range...decrease sets and weights....also what you have, might be inflammation of the tissue through out your lower back....it could flame up because of cold wheather also...
