Re: anyone belive in the myan mystery of 2012?

Paradigm Shift...
Also some will rise up, most will be the same.

We should probably toss a virgin into a volcano just to make sure nothing bad happens.

Re: anyone belive in the myan mystery of 2012?

i guess my question is. . .if they were so friggin' gifted, why weren't they able to predict their own demise?? imho, their calendar kinda loses some of it's punch upon their extinction. . .doesn't really have anything to do with their beliefs. . .it's like people that claim to be able to see the future. . .yeah. . .ummm. . .gimme the powerball numbers or shut up, m'kay??
That sort of echos a discussion I like to bring up when I've got enough pagans in the same room, "why can't we hold a ritual to hit the superball?" Supposedly it falls under the rules of free will and ethics, basically, just because you can do something, does that mean you have the right to?

As for the Mayans, whose to know they didn't foresee their own demise but realized there wasn't a thing they could do to stop it? When you have a more cyclical view of things (which most ancient peoples did), as opposed to the more linear way we view things, you sort of have a tendency to roll with the punches. Civilizations have come and gone, before, they'll come and go again.

Okay, I'm a practicing pagan, the leader of my tradition is one of the best astrologers in the area and I have it from very good sources that the world is not coming to an end, so relax, don't stockpile shit and don't look to move into a secure bunker in the mountains

Now, about 2012 ... yes, there will be changes, in fact, they began a few years ago, but for about 99.9999% of people this basically means diddly. The changes are energetic and the ripples are going to last for a long, long time but they have to do with us, as a species. Humanity must either self destruct or evolve, we're overdue. Some people are doing things to prevent or resist evolution (kim jong il, the phelps family, anyone who hates homosexuals or non christians or is just an all around greedy asshole, etc., etc., etc.) and others are racing towards it happily (me and the goofballs like me).

This is like what I was trying to say ....... but I was 2lazy to type it out. So thanx and AGREED.

The poles have shifted before and are in the process of shifting now. It's not some big whoosh, like an earthquake, it's a slow process.

And I'm sorry, but if some of the most highly respected druids, witches, priestesses, astrologers and elders of the entire North American pagan community ain't worrying, I sure as hell ain't worrying.

We have huge floods now, remember that tsunami in 2004? It killed a quarter of a million people. How did that affect you? What about New Orleans?

We have fires, look at California, look at Austrailia.

There are volcanos and earthquakes going off all over the place. But is your life changing? We have natural disasters ALL the time, and they are catastrophic. If you were to relay this information to your extreme ancestors they'd probably think this is a terrible time we're living in. It's just what's happening. The world will not change in the blink of an eye.

And just because it's a certain date thinking that shit is going to start hitting this planet from space is just daft. The fact is, we're long overdue for a biggie, but until we can figure out how to get Bruce Willis up there to set off a nuclear bomb, ain't a whole lot any of us can do about a planet killer so worrying about it is like worrying about your own death. You're not going to prevent it, and you'll only make yourself miserable until it happens.

Agreed, again. But Katrina sucked for me. Went with work. The bug bites alone made it appear as some describe "hell". Plus, the job sucked,2.
