Any opinions of decline bench?

I haven't done decline bench in some time. Seemed to my shoulders "ache" whenever I would do decline bench heavy on a regular basis.

I thought it worked tris good. It loads the triceps with a heavier weight then normal. Sort of like a 1 board press.
 
I never really got much out of these. but maybe i should give em a shot with a wider grip, slower negative, and more intensity.
 
I just started doing them recently after a few bloopered attempts over the last couple of years..
Animal Mass inspired me to try them... So far.. I really like the feel.... Give me another couple of months to make a solid decision :P

the part about the tri's getting worked less is wrong, bad wrong. one of the things about decline is that it takes the should pretty much completely out of the movement and locks it in a static position. thats the reason people decline more than flat ( and also bench more than they incline.) the triceps get hit hard on decline, and thus resembles the dip movement.

That, and when I see most people doing decline presses, they lower the bar to their upper abs. I don't know how practical it is to take the thing closer to your clavicles, but the short ROM most use is another reason they think they can decline press more than they flat bench.

I'm betting it'd be rather hard on the shoulders to take it that "low," though.
