any of you cycle in reg flat bench...as ME?

...from what i was reading in article...it sounds like halbert likes to cycle it in as max effort lift every once in a while...

how does this sound for my max effort...

flat bench
illegal grips
close grips
incline press
db for reps

what else...that requires very little to nothing else as far as equipment goes...?

I'd suggest that at the very least you get yourself some boards. You'd be missing out on the benefit of chains and bands but its better than nothing.

Consider adding in floor presses also. I like reg BP for ME too

I woudl ditchthose bodybuilder moves. If you're using your chest as the primary force to bench, you're doing it wrong. Drop the dumbbells and make some boards, do floor presses, reverse band presses, etc...

After 2 max effot bench moves, work the muscle you bench with THE LATS, TRIS, and SHOULDERS. Power comes from the back of your body.

yeah i think i might get the bands...for benching...i only need them and some heavy db's to anchor them right?

You can wrap them around heavy db's, or you can wrap them under a power rack.

yeah i know that is what everyone says...
my tris and lats are definately not the problem...

i believe that like jay and halbert say...chest is important...im talking raw benching especially...

You are way over estimating this raw vs not raw thing. I never train my chest, my bench has jumped 105 pounds in 2 1/2 months, and I lift raw. The shirt has very little to do with it.

Pretend you just pulled guns out of a holster...arms down to the side, elbows against your body, forearms at 90 degrees to your body. THIS is where your bench should bottom. Use your lats to pull it out, and your tris to push it up, elbows in close to your body, and down, not out.

If your bench is low, tris, shoulders, and lats are ALWAYS "the problem." Plenty of WSB guys have benched HUGE numbers with torn pecs. With and without a shirt.

Just curious...but what makes you think that your tris and lats aren't the problem. Not knowing you I am not saying you are wrong...just wondered what made you come to this conclusion.

tris arent the problem...

i can do the same wt close grip as bench press -10 lbs. i close grip with a pretty close grip as well. and no arch whatsover while using a slight arch on flat bench.

i do 315 flat...300 close grip. my close grip is ...with my index on the smooth rough border...

lats...well harder to "prove". i do retract my scapula very very hard and ...keep my upper back pretty tight

its weird also ...tris i never really get sore...lats only a bit...and chest is excruciating soreness sometimes...feels like im freaking bruised...i always bench with elbows tucked in...
