Any land lords in the house?

I'm thinking about buying a house near my local University, and over charging students for rent.

Just looking for some feedback on the ins and outs. I know there are going to be some problems, but the way i figure it, i can make 3x the cost of the morgage.

Have you ever been to college? Cos if you had, you would know this is probably the worst idea ever. Unless you only rent to international students or grad students or something.

Yeah i know some of the potential problems. I would screen the potential renters and charge a deposit or something.

incorrect, every college town I know of has GROSSLY overcharged rent and subpar facilities. Get a house and maximize bedroom space, preferably make it a duplex (top/bottom)...

as an example... last year our house (next to the school) was 8k/month. It was technically a 4 bdrm... and albeit we had a great location and view.. it was still absurdly overpriced.

here was our view off my bedroom balcony last yr:

If they are willing to pay the rent it must not be overcharging! Just supply and deman.

If you can get 3 times your mortgage payment I'd say that sound great. Go for it. Rent to women because they will be better behaved. Read a few books on the subject while your at it and get a good realtor that understands invesatment property. Good luck
