I'm not THAT big a guy, so perhaps this isn't as amazing as I think it is. I'm sure some of you can out do this guy...

Still, I was at my local Golds the other day and this guy alternating between skull crushers and in close bench press. He'd do the skulls, take a 15 - 30 second break then do the in-close (CLOSE too, well inside the rough) bench presses. He was doing a set of 8 skull crushers at 185# followed by a set of 8 BP at 285#. He did about 6 sets like this. I STRUGGLE if I try to bench (not close) 285# more than say four times. God...

This is the same dude that came in and did legs three days in a row too (270# calf raises).

I really like this pre-exhausting combo as well, I do them in a slightly different way...

I do the skull crushers and immediately continue with the same weight to do JM presses immediately followed by close grip bp until i can lift the bar from my chest....

funny but my close grip bench is almost as most as my regular bench. well by about 45 lbs.

I'm with you on this. It sucks cuz it always leads me to think that I'm doing more chest than tri's.

is that 270# on standing calf raise? i can do way more than that, but my close-grip is limited to about 130 at the end of my fourth set. hmm.

No not standing, seated. Like you get with one of those Hammer Strength jobbies with the pad that tries to dislocate your knee through the whole movement.

I've done skull crushers then close bp to complete failure as a burnout set before. It sucks b/c anyone that doesn't see the whole set starts wondering who the dork is that can't get 80lbs of his chest. LOL.
