alternative to bb row?

I have seen people use the lat pulldown machine to mimic the movement of a bb row by standing in front of it and pulling the wide grip bar from shoulder height to their waist. anyone do this? is this an effective lat builder? obvioulsy you couldn't go too heavy, but it would seem like an isolation exercise. thoughts please:finger2:

Why do you want to use the lat pulldown machine, can you not performed barbell rows. When using the machines, you are not really even moving the weight that you think you are, because of the pulleys. The only advantage might be more tension on the negative portion.

Man I would never give up the bb row, the power you gain from that movement alone makes it worthwhile

That and the T-Bar are irreplaceable in my opinion

I cannot imagine my back workout without one or the other
