alternate bulk/cut days?

is it possible to do the "eat big" thing on workout days and run a calorie deficit by low carb/low fat methods on off days? On workout days I hit the gym in the morning, so my muscles would have the rest of the day and the following night to recover, but how severely would I be inhibiting recovery (gains) by cutting carbs the next day?

I've been doing the eating big thing for a few months now and loving the gains I'm making, but starting to put on a little too much chub and want to try cutting back on that while keeping the gains going.

My cousin runs what he calls a "Zig-Zag" diet where he alternates days. It works well for him. I think it's one of those things you need to try for yourself and see how you respond though. You also need to stay strict on cals everyday, low or high.
 
I know Lyle Mcdonal has suggested something along those lines. A few days of very low calories followed by a few days of very high calories, then maintenance for a few days, then do it over and over again. I woul do a google search for some of lyle mcdonald's stuff.
