a mind game

Yes, I do keep a workout log. You are right, watching improvement does help. :)

Spatterson - when you get a chance - whats your diagnosis for my split??

small digression

Any chance I could talk you out of doing 1 movement per group?

Could you explain what the benefit of this is?

I ask because at my gym I have one alternative machine for most of the leg stuff I do. I stick with the only one movement because I absolutely detest the other machine. Is it really that much better to use more than one exercise/machine per group?

Do you mean me?

I can't quite say I'm not seeing results. I have had to make most of my weights heavier again. For somebody who started out not even being able to do ONE set of anything with 8 lb weights, that is a very nice feeling. Plus I have so much more energy these days.

When I am able to go the gym I do the BFL-style workout, which works out to, like, 5 sets of different weight and varying number of reps. But when I am stuck in the hotel, all I have is Granddad's dumbells, which fortunately being a *little* too heavy for me still do work most of my arm muscles to fatigue. I guess when these get too light I will have to go get another pair.

But I REALLY hate that seated calf press machine thingie. It hurts my calves and feet more than the standing one. Until I can get my leg problem solved, I'm going to continue to do just one movement. I'll try to do different arm exercises, tho.

One thing that does not get mentioned here too much is that the more skilled the athletes, the quicker the body (mostly CNS) will adapt. A novice can generally perform the same program for months on end, whereas an elite athlete may need to rotate exercises practically every week.

That being said, there are still individuals who can grind away at the same program week after week, month after month, and year after year, like Coan, Bridges, Gaugler, and since my son does not read this, I will put him in the same group.

On the off chance this gets back to him it is probably due to his lack of imagination.
