30% exercise 70% food when losing weight

Hi, I'm xindy and I’m new to the board. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm 23 from los angeles, CA. Where's everyone else from?

This is what I heard that only 30% of weight loss is in the workout and 70% is in the food. If you have a regimen that's tried and true for you I'd love to hear about it.

When I was super fat, it was more exercise and no to little diet.
As my bodyfat% dropped, the diet became more important.

most everybody here would agree, that diet is VERY important in determining what you look like (thus the Diet & Bodybuilding forum), but exercise is also necessary. ya can't look good without both of them, unless you've got a plastic surgeon, killer genetics, or both.

are you looking to lose weight? what are your stats (sex, height, weight, body fat %)?

I worked out for a couple years and noticed muscle gains but I wasn't very defined. Then a guy in the gym who obviously knew a lot about bodybuilding told me that 80-90% of it is in your diet. After a couple years actually monitoring and adjusting my diet, I would have to agree.

It's like asking what is more important, the brake or the accelerator, you can't drive without either. For long term body composition management diet and exercise are both essential. You can lose weight without exercise but you'll just be a smaller version of the way you looked before and you'll never get ripped on a fast food diet regardless of exercise.

The two biggest things that helped in my program for losing body fat were controlling the timing and level of my carbs and increasing my exercise frequency from four days per week to six days per week. Studies have shown exercise frequency is actually more important than duration when losing fat.
