I am trying to limit my salt.. does anyone use a salt substitute or is sea salt ok?? hellllp ..

Also with all the info on Maltitol syrup spiking blood sugar.. what Protein bars do you use??? ,,, I limit them but sometimes you just can help it

thank you

I just use sea salt. If you are eating a clean diet you shouldn't really have much salt in there anyway. Some is not a bad thing. For seasoning, Mrs Dash is good tho :) The only thing I put explicitly salt on is seasoning before I grill my steak.

Protein bars -- at this point they've been completely pulled from my diet. In emergency I keep some EAS Carb Sense bars around. To a degree the 'non-critical' or whateverr they call those 'non-carbs' (sorry just coming off the cold medication & I can't think 100% yet) are crap, but make sure you're getting decent protein and not obscene fat for the calories of the bar.

I never limit salt. The only "bad" thing about salt is the water retention that can come with excess salt. BUT, if you are drinking enough water, that shouldn't be an issue.

Salt has limited impact on blood pressure if you are healthy. If you already suffer from high blood pressure, or are borderline high, then you should think about limiting salt. Plus, if you workout regularly, that should help keep blood pressure low.

I am a salt FIEND. I love salt. I have always kept salt in my diet - even a very strict clean diet. It never impacted my gains.

As for protein bars, keep them out, unless necessary. I always have them around, in case I get hungry unscheduled, or I get caught somewhere longer than I planned.

I don't use iodized salt & try to limit my use of salt. However I do like Sea Salt & Kosher Salt -- they don't have the chemicals in them that table salt does, and has a better flavor & taste to it. Definitely try some coarse sea salt -- use in a grinder like peppercorns.

As for the protein bars -- I treat them as a candy bar. If I'm craving chocolate I may have one as I like the Luna bars taste, etc.....
