1st Power Clean workout - 02.10.19

Figured that after 4 months of doing Snatches I should give the Clean a try. Now other than having two people demonstrate the technique for me - I've never done worked on these before. Also I performed the Power Clean (catching the weight at quarter squat depth - not the full Clean/Front Squat combo).

So what the hell - try it and maybe I'll like it.

Warmed up - went thru 132 (60Kg) for a triple from the floor - easy. Tried 152 x 3, easy. 176 x 3 - got it.

About this time I'm getting my confidence up - jump to 196 x 3. Made it. 220 (100kg) for 3 - nailed it.

One more work set - and got 240 x 3 - tough but I got'em.

As a treat I went for 260 - but just got into the second pull when I lost it twice.

So my stats are: 6'2", 240#.
Not bad having a bodyweight clean - hopefully with TIME and work 300+ isn't too far away.

not bad at all. The powerclean has always been my best lift in regards to bodyweight and in proportion to my other lifts. I weigh 195 and powerclean 240 right now, so that's 50 pounds over bodyweight. I hope to hit 250 within the next few months. Hit me up with yor training routine to see what you're plannin on doing to improve.

I am aiming to lift my bodyweight in a clean. I had just started doing these a couple of weeks ago, and it is by far may fave exercise. right now, I am cleaning 155@189, 5'10.5.

is there much difference between a power clean and a standing clean..ive never done power cleans but i like doing standing cleans really builds up the upper back and sholders

my last best was 205, and i barely got it. hehe. 185 is pretty easy most days. both of which are over my bodyweight. im 175.

i would love a 225 power clean, probably nothing to it but to do it right now. ive been deadlifting and squatting alot lately so im sure my lower back can hang.

my shoulder workouts have been nothing but explosive too. hmmmm...maybe one try before i go to hypertrophy training for the rest of the year.

Hang cleans require a lot more velocity and speed to complete. Shorter path. ie more power

UPDATED.

Hit 264# (120 kilos) for a double last nite. Caught it on my upper chest and just pushed it back to my collar bone.

If I ever add the duck/squat part to this lift - the real fun could begin.
