i am having wrist pain whilst doing any type of benching.
i can feel it as i type. it doesnt worry me when i deadlift.

should i buy wrist wraps?

anyone who has had a similiar problem please post your experiences

You have wrist pain while typing... but not while deadlifting?? Hmm... Well... when deadlifting your wrists are typically in line with your forearm and are not bending up or down to form an angle with the lower arm. I know when i type they are bent slightly but not much. When benching, some people don't keep the barbell in line over their wrist in the palms of their hands and instead let it roll back into the hand. This will make the wrist support a lot of the weight of the barbell and can put a terrible strain on the wrist; plus, while benching, you have to exert energy to keep the weight from rolling off ur hands onto your chest as well as lowering and then pushing it. My guess is that you are holding it like this when you bench and strained some tendons in the wrist and hand... which would be aggrevated by typing.

I'd say lay off benching for a few days and see how it feels.

OUch

You hit on one of my pet peeves.......

Everybody doesnt have this problem but after doing skulll crushers one day some idiot left something slick on the bar and this idiot didnt realize it.. the bar slipped back and tore my wrist up and has never been the same since.. I talked to some other powelrlifters and they made me realize that when you are powerlifting you use heavy weights.. you have to PROTECT your wrists.. I use wrist wraps for EVERYTHING!! (occasionally I wank without them:D ) I use to think they were for weaklings... Now I consider then protection....Ice, Aspirn, Wrap and Adapt

I used to have bad wrist pain. I didnt compete then but i was benching over 400 lbs, and my pain got so bad i thought my shit had a fracture. It was in both wrists then just left. I used a suicide grip them and no chalk (didnt know what chalk was) and the more i would strain my wrists would ever so slightly slide out ward causing wrist pain (i believe) . I wraped them up with shit from Wal Mart and though it helped some it didnt make it go away. Then i switched to regular bench grip and got inzer wraps for my wrists. I use the longest wrist wraps they make. I wrap them tight too. The wrap goes up my hand some. But i know in 3 years have zero pain at all. But i still wrap on everything over 315lbs. I do wrist curls as well but i take no chances. No one cares what bench without wrists wraps. So get some and wrap tight and i swear the pain goes away. 100%!

whenever i do really heavy barbell extensions, this sometimes happens to me. my wrists drift back away from the line i normally keep them in during benching. it normally hurts for a few days and it hurts to the point where i cant type that well. pljay gave great advice. luckily i took this step awhile back. i have the med length wrist wraps and they work great for me. put these on whenever you feel like you're going to need them. they saved my wrists for sure.

I got a pair or wrist warps from inzer for pretty cheap and I wear them for all upper body benching and triceps stuff and have no wrist pain at all. They are not needed for biceps and back stuff. Wrist wraps are definately worth the $. Every bencher needs a pair or wrist wraps.

You can also take a pair of old knee wraps and cut them shorter and have your woman attach some velcro to make yourself some $0 wraps like I did.
