well, thandie...i liked what you wrote about the meal, i just replied about the pills coz she wrote "Got it, thanks. She has a torn ACL so she cant do the treadmill, only the bike machine. But she also says she cant go for more than 20 minutes without it starting to hurt"
that is why i said if she want she can suggest her some diet pills. sorry if you have felt a little offended by my comments, anyways intentions were never to disregard your diet

No, I was not offended. I was just shocked by the suggestion. Diet pills are dangerous for anyone, let alone for an 18 year old to start using them. It will only cause problems in the future.

hi im bumping this thread again with some new info. SO we went to the gym and she weighed 131 in gym clothes. And she is 5'2". I thought she was 115, but apparently not. Her diet is not the best, but its not bad. Breakfast is usually toast and yogurt and thats it. Then dried peas for a snack, and a dinner varies but i can tell she only has about 1000-1200 calories a day.

Also, her family has a history for thyroid problems (mom, grandma, great grandma). Could this be the reason she never feels 100%, and has gained weight? Would her doctor know what to do with a thyroid problem? I feel like she cant lose weight not because of her diet but because of a possible thyroid problem. Thanks for any help in advance

With a thyroid issue will definitely be more challenging to lose weight. However, she still has to have a good diet in order to lose weight/bf; especially with a thyroid condition, if that's the case. There's no way of getting around it. Yogurt, toast and dried peas will not do it.

Thank you, so around 1200-1300 calories should be ok? Considering I used the diet in the first page that you recommended? Shes 5'2" 131 lbs. I also told her that she should be more active during the day instead of the 45 minutes at the gym.

Yes, for now that's good to start with. That will determine her matabolic rate and see if she needs to increase her calories. Everyone is different, but if she's having issues with her thyroid is best to go on the lower side, initially.
