Are there any ladies out here that lift early morning as opposed to cardio? I would really love a looksie in your log to see what your nutrition looks like. I'm getting fed up with the knuckleheads in the gym, and may have to beat them to the punch. is this doable?

That's what I'm saying Sass. I don't eat before Cardio. Today before I lift, I ate 1/2 hr before, but felt nauseous afterwards lol. Um lets see, when I lift after work, a good 3 hrs has passed from my last meal. I kind of wake up stupid, I may have to try it and just see. I did some reading in the BB forum on this very subject, and some of the guys mentioned lifting in the am, yet they mentioned something about their testosterone levels.

I switched to AM cardio & training for my last show around 6 weeks out. I would shovel down 3-4 egg whites on the way to the gym at 5 am, do cardio, then more egg whites after that & before training. Then I'd have a regular meal -- Chicken & broccoli after training.

Would I normally recommend cardio before training? Nope. But that's the schedule I was presented with. I also recall that Spatts (if you remember her) would get up at say 4 am, eat her first meal of oats & protein, go back to bed, then train an hr or two later. I also don't care to train on a full stomach. You might consider just doign a protein & veggie meal before training and then do your carb meal (as I have normally done oatmeal as my first AM meal) after that. Might take you a couple different combinations to come up with somethign that works with your digestive system to give you the energy for AM training but not make you feel sick.

I know my stomach is a bit touchy first thing in the morning, but if you normally train with at least 3 hrs since your last meal, you are essentially doing empty stomach training...

somewheres in my log I was doing am cadio and one bodypart training.. just after I got back in from my trip in march... the diet is in my log... I was doing 2 weight trainings a day but only one bodypart and a cardio session.. I did it on an empty stomach but I had a lot of energy in the morning... it really depends on how you feel.. I can't weight train on a full stomach.. if you need something do like sassy said a couple of egg white or down a pure protein shake a few minutes before... then eat a good meal after....

hope this helps girlie!!!

love the woo hoo I use that all the time heehee

Necia, occasionally on Saturdays, I do lift first. I can't do much with a full stomach so I just have a whey shake (your favorite: ON Rocky Road actually) half an hour before I get to the gym. That usually tides me through a one hour session with my trainer. After that, I have another whey shake for PWO and then wait 45mins to an hour to do my carb meal of oats etc.

However most of the time, I go to the 9am spinning class right after at my gym, so I skip the PWO shake and just do a carb meal when I get home. But I'm not sure that's the best...

Thanks Ladies & Radar. It's 10:30 now, and I just rolled my ass out of bed. Not quite early morning. I'm starving so I'm makin my protein pancake and will drag my ass off in an hr or so. I'm gonna do what Sassy suggested with the egg whites or shake, when I really try for early morning. We'll see what my ole bod tells me afterwards. Thanks for your input.
