The question was put to us, would we be offended by this. my response is what does you showing your nips on stage add to the performance??

I dunno if there would have been an honest "proper" response. I mean, if they weren't prepared for your answer then they should not have asked the question.

In the future perhaps if you aren't sure about "the answer" it might help if you ask the person to rephrase their question to see what they REALLY want to know.

In questionable situations I always say, "I don't understand quite what you are asking me." And let them elaborate to the point where it becomes clear to you what they REALLY want to hear from you.
