dude each body part 2-3 x per week holy shit. I train each body part 1 x per week and I m a 80% time power lifter and a 20 % time body builder (dont tell jay or jimmie dean about the body building thing). and ive made some huge gains in the last almost 2 years by dropping my training to 3 days per week and 1 time per body part. now i know this type of training does not work for everyone but you have to train power lifting for power and that training is way too much to gain lots of power ---no recouperation time. also you being 6-6 have a long way to go in squats and bench Im 244 at 5-10 so I dont have that far to travel like her post above me said genitics take a big part so does tendon strength which some people just dont have. do what the one dude above me said and chech out west side training and you will see what you need to do

You are awfully tall for this sport. There is nothing you can do about that, of course, but just like short people have a tough time in basketball or volleyball, tall people tend to have a tough time powerlifting. You just have to move the bar a lot farther than those of us more compactly built.

I am one of the smallest guys on this board who is not a teenager, and I am five seven and 225. Powerlifterjay is five ten and 255 or so, Freak19 is like five 7 and 235, and he is still a teenager.

This is not to say that you can't become strong, but in my humble opinion, you are likely to be more built for strongman type stuff rather than powerlifting. But you should definately take up conjugate (westside) training for whatever type of competition you aspire to become involved in.

Talk to b fold the truth, he is a big guy who does strongman. He is really good at it and would be a good source of information on the subject. I only know what I see on tv. Short guys have no business doing strongman.

And Bill Kazamier is 6'3" too, with a 2400+ raw total. Of course, he's not really human, so it doesn't count. :p

Hannibal is also pushing 300 lbs I believe. And Kaz was 340 and ripped in his prime. Pretty impressive right now as well. And you are right, no way he is human.

I would number 1 spend more time on tris and less on bi's. Lats are very important. You should always take your max bench with the maximum wodth your allowed. Considering how tall you are. Technique is very important. Guys in the gym have heard me say if my spirit could leave my body and go in to theres i would bench 75lb more then they can do. I truly believe that. Technique is everything. I can also tell you tris are 1 , lats are 2 when it comes to benching. I would hit tris twice a week , pressing both days. Follow it with 2 assistance exercises, or 1 depending on your recupe time. And hit lats (not real heavy) twice a week.

As far as deadlifting if your arms are long and your torso is short you are built for it. Give it time. Your new at it.

Squats well ...if your upper leg is long you need to first squat as wide as you can. Less distance. But just time and patience and hard work, and it will happen.

i appreciate the advice ill admit ive been slacking on tris. but i do alot of chinups but maybe do you think i should do weighted chins? would u reccomend alot of close grip benching or behined the neck ez curl tricep extensions, or the skull crushers. or just a combo. so i take it tris should be worked 2 times as much as bi's. by the way is the BICEP CURL an event in powerlifting. thanks for your help i appreciate it!!!! your poundages are VERY IMPRESSIVE keep up the good work this helps motivate me more, it will be hard to cut down on training frequency by the way. laterzzzzzz

i heard somethin like they were trying to make the bicep curl an event im confused but ive got an awsome bicep curl. straight bar i can do 205 with some swing and lean but not too much crazy cheating. im good on skull crushers too for tris but i just dont get why my bench is so weak i hate using height as an excuse or excueses period i will definitly read through westide

Kaz had 2400 raw? damn.

nclifter - read back through all the posts on this board. there has been more than enough information and links posted here to get you started.

even though I agree with Brian, I'd still give anything to be 6-6...
