The playing field will never be equal. here you go:

I work with people from top universities. Many of their parents were top finance people who attended the same universities. The kids grew up with private schools and then on to the same universities their parents went. Unsurprisingly, they moved into influential finance jobs.

Most would say "anyone could do that" if they had those chances, and they would be right. I paid my own way to an elite boarding school that I got into ona basketball scholarship. then I paid my own way through Unviersity the same way.

After that I joined the Army. By the time I was 25 I got out, and some doors had opened. I took advantage and became successful. I still work 6-7 days a wee kand sometimes I am here until 11 at night.

Clearly, my road was harder than someone whose dad was a managing director of an investment bank.

Many people have it much much harder than I did. But anyone can get ahead if they are willing to work for it. It doesn't require an equal playing field, in fact from an economic standpoint, inequality creates growth.

Just ask Colin Powell.

Dont bother. Thats a whole other discussion that people wont be able to come to terms with.

I give MLK a pass on this. Most theses largely involve plagiarism or at least the disguised copyng of another's ideas. If he was never famous, we'd have never known.

Thats true, but remember the words of Uncle Ben:

With great power comes great responsibility.

What you're really talking about, then, is the reality that people are always going to be wary of someone new / not from their background until they get to know that person.

Racism, class discrimination, gender discrimination are all variations on this theme, aren't they?

Yes except I disagree with the notion that people will automatically change and accept when they get to know them. There are many that will not give certain people a chance regardless, simply because of their colour/gender whatever. This isn't limited to blacks or minorities either although it is obviously far more prevalent.

I applaud your efforts....

Still not understanding....

For one college is not for everyone…

So what if you have a person of color and another of european decent. without a degree. Let’s talk about this playing field. Studies have shown that more people of color are denied business loans even when they have the same credentials as their white counterparts.

The study even showed that some that were approved were given higher rates. Now I am saying this is all without a personal guarantee, so their credit was not an issue. Asians and other ethnic groups were given funds for the must mundane of things.

Any thoughts on this ?

The playing field will never be level.

One person might hear "yes" the first time they ask. Another might hear "no" the first 5 times and a "yes" on the 6th.

Someone else might have to ask 50 times to get a "yes".

Instead of complaining about the unfairness of an initial "no", try again - is what i would say to anyone who feels discriminated against. The idea that something happens because of skin color is a coput that holds down more people than any racism.

Chandler continued, "I think it's a shame that one or two white students based on white privilege, a lack of awareness of racial issues and a lack of generosity of spirit complained to the office of the provost and were able, because they were white, to gain admission to the morning session that I was forced to open up."

What a deluded bitch. Fuck her, and the entire university black community that bitched about letting a white girl attend a speech.

Maybe they excluded him because it was obviously just done for publicity, which he has now gotten and therefore doesn't need to join anyway.

Freshman lawmaker trying to get noticed. What a crock of shit.

the best way to find out how to properly represent your black consituants is to go ask them.

Bullshit. You assume what people want and when you're wrong you accuse "those people" of being impossible to satisfy.

It's worked famously so far.
