Which is better? Lifting heavy weights or Hypertrophy based training

I've always been curious about this, which protocol is the best for gaining muscle; Powerlifting style workouts or high volume bodybuilding workouts. I'm sure both protocols have their own pros and cons. What do you think?

A stronger muscle is a bigger muscle, so heavy weights are a must if you want to get big.. High reps (12-15) are also important, forcing as much blood as possible into a hydrated muscle will cause the muscle cells to swell and stretch it beyond its limit, this is called sarcoplasmic hypertrophy.

A mix of both will give the best results.

so 3-5 reps heavy x 3 sets then 2 sets of 60% of your working weight sets in the 15-24 reps range will give a great pump..

Yes I agree with this.

It's about finding what works best for you. Everyone reacts to things differently. Some people get better growth from high volume training, and some get better growth from lower volume, higher intensity training with lower reps. It's best to try both and see which gives you better results. Generally speaking a mix of both is great, but not for everyone.
