Where to start? Dieting/Training & T-Rex

Hey guys,

I'm still new to a lot of this, but I'm learning as I go. I maintain a pretty healthy diet (except beer intake) and by most would be concidered skinny. I'm 6' 3" and about 190lbs. I busted my ass weight training in highschool with little results, I can only assume it was a exremely high metabolism combined with non complimentary genes. I got back in the gym for a short period approx 5 months ago (now 27 yrs old) and saw more results in that short stint, as far as building mass, than I had in all the years before. All I did was a loading phase of creotine for a week and then standard dosages 40 minutes prior to working out combined with protein shakes, tuna fish, grilled chicken, peanut butter, and fruits and what not as my diet. I'm 6' 3" and about 190lbs. Still skinny but keep in mind my goal isn't to get big. Becasue I have been drinking often and the natural slowing and my metabolism, I want primarily to shed excess bf and get cut.

So aside from the obvious, cut out the drinking, what order should I do things? Dropp the BF then add mass? attack both goals at once?

This is my firsttime posting and I know very little so any advice is greatly appreciated.

On a side note- I ordered a bottle of T-Rex this morning, kind of excited about that.

Thanks again

Welcome to the board...

At 6'3" 190, you're pretty lean. If your current goal is to shed fat, then it'll be best if you start cutting. That means you'll be taking in less calories then you're losing (via exercise, metabolism, etc)...Cals in < cals out

What is your diet like (i.e. what time are you eating)? How often do you exercise? Supplements can help you but remember they are supplements to your meals. I noticed you're eating pretty healthy. Here are a few pointers to get you on your way...

* Eat 5-7 meals daily
* Drink plenty of water (1+ gallons a day)
* Look into EFA's (Essential Fatty Acids)
* Learn the difference between high and low GI foods (http://optimalhealth.cia.com.au/gi17.html)
* Buy a good multi-vitamin

Here is some info on TREX...

Start off by taking one to two caps the first day to assess tolerance. After a few days, if it's not kicking your butt, add a few more, if desired. 2 x 2 splits are popular and eventually you can move up higher if need be. On average, most people consume 6 caps daily on a 2x3 or 3x2 split (2x3 = twice daily with three caps each serving). However everyone is different so it's hard to judge how you will handle it. As caffeine is a diuretic, remember to drink plenty of water, like previously stated.

Good luck

:cool:

Thanks for the response.

I am fairly lean with the exception of bf around the abdominal region. Pretty much a baby beer gut. :D

Forgot to mention I just started with a CLA last week, so l hope that is a good thing.

As far as my current eating habits, they are poor. 2 meals a day when I'm lucky and I've avoided eating after 7pm. Rarely do I eat breakfast and if I do it's a protein shake with a banna or powerbar. Usually something quick and light ( I tend to get very tired about 30 minutes after I eat if it's a heavy meal) I'm only exercising 3-4 times a week anywhere from 20-40 minutes.

I tend to do OK as far as what I eat but I'm clueless as to the amounts and timing. Most of time I don't feel hungry and will forget to eat if I'm not careful. The short time I was able to stay focused (5 months back) I was eating about 6 times a day.

What would you say is a "Good" multivitamin? I've taken your standard OTC Centrum for some time now, only becasue I have a farily innactive desk job and I recognized my poor dietary habits. Should I look into something else? if I should start cutting as you've mentioned, should I stack the T-rex with anything else, given the CLA that I'm on now? I don't wanna be counterproductive.

Thanks again
