one month ago i did my first DL competition...
...suprised my self... as my previous best was 465 @ 145ish... over a year ago...
...i cut some weight to make the 148 class... open men group...
...i opened with 407... easy pull...
...second lift... 440... no problem... the adrenaline rush of being there is unlike anything else ive ever experienced...
...third lift... 479.5 and it went up smooth...
...the WABDL CA state record is 512.5... so being within 35 pounds you get a 4th attempt ....
513.5 on the bar.... well i didnt get it... but i had it off the floor and about half way up and then i lost... grip... ...damn it...
won weight class (148)...
and "best male deadlifter: open men"
nice work man thats awesome. there are countless lifters twice your weight who couldnt budge 479. work on that grip!!!

***NEW MAX AS OF JUNE 22ND/2008.*** LIFTED AT A WABDL MEET HELD IN HUMBLE, TX AT THE CIVIC CENTER ON A SUNDAY.WEIGHED -IN AT 181.0 LBS. BENCHED 286 LBS(NO BENCH SHIRT)NEW PR. NOW ON TO THE DEADLIFT. OPENED WITH 518LBS/NEXT 551LBS/ THEN 562 LBS/ AND FINAL LIFT 4TH FOR A RECORD IN THE TEXAS MASTERS 40-46 AND LAW/FIRE OPEN CLASS WAS 575.2 LBS. HAD TO USE THE CHIPS AS THE RECORD FOR THE MASTERS 40-46 CLASS, WAS 573LBS. SO , I HAD TO DO 2.2 LBS MORE FOR THE RECORD.HAD ANOTHER GUY, IN THE LAW/FIRE 181 CLASS HOW WAS TRYING TO MATCH MY ATTEMPTS, BUT HE STALLED OUT AT 551LBS WAS HIS LAST GOOD LIFT. HE DID NOT GET 562LBS TO GO. SO, ONCE I, DID 562 LBS ON MY THIRD ATTEMPT. I, SAID WHY NOT TAKE A 4TH ATTEMPT AND PUT THE RECORD A LITTLE FURTHER OUT THERE? THE LIFT WAS GOOD AND I, STILL HAD SOME LEFT. ONWARD TO 600 LB GOAL FOR 2008.....
