Whats wrong with atkins?

I see all this stuff about a ckd diet, but nothing about atkins? Whats wrong with it?

I went on atkins 2 years ago and lost about 60 lbs. I did it the wrong way, i never exercised and i was never happy with the way i looked. After stopping atkins, i lifted off and on, but never ate the right way so that was a complete waste of time.

Everybody here counts everything taken in! How do u do it????? Thats y i went on the atkins, so i dont have to count anything but carbs, didnt have to worry about protein or calories.

Bottom line, Yeah i want to be "ripped" but after losing 60 lbs (it couldnt have been fat because im just a smaller version of what i was), i just want to get rid of these god damn love handles first. I dont care about seeing abs, or seeing every muscle, just look like a normal human being. so, do i need to be on a ckd or try atkins again? Ill do the cardio, but i cant do the weights.

Some advice would be appreciated.

thanks

There is nothing wrong with Atkins for losing weight, I just found that a weekly carb up does not effect my weight loss much at all, and I have more energy to complete my workouts. But I am interested in gaining strength, lowering body fat, not just getting rid of body fat.
I track everything I eat on a little pad and add up the totals everyday. That way I will know how different cal, protein, fat and carb totals effect my weight/strength. It is not that bad once you get use to it, I do not have to look up most of the food I eat anymore, I know the totals.
If you follow Atkins or CKD and do three or four days of cardio the weight will come off fast.

Atkins is not good for gaining muscle. Something to do with Leptin levels ???

^I read that on here when I first started my ckd.

try www.fitday.com, to help you count your macros and cals.

Yeah, the carb-up days will help you to gain muscle. Due to the fact that you haven't eaten carbs for 6 days, your body will completely absorb all the carbs you throw at it. It's a pretty nice effect. Supercompensation, they call it. I believe the number was 160% more absorption of glycogen into the muscle tissue.

Bodybuilders use CKD because they train. Carbohydrates are needed to manufacture glycogen. Heavy anaerobic work needs glycogen...or at least type IIB fibers. Also, your body uses sugar more efficiently when you've been deprived. Atkins is more of a passive way to lose weight for the common sendentary person, CKD is for people who lift...thats the difference :). And insulin is a necessity for growth, sugar intake dictates insulin levels.

For people who lift weights, and who are concerned with maintaining, or gaining muscle mass, a CKD is superior. For one thing, the once a week carb up keeps your metabolism faster than than a SKD (adkins is a SKD). Also, the carb loading after being in ketosis and depleting glycogen stores creates a supercomensation effect, which causes muscle tissue to temporarily be capable of holding more glycogen than normal, thus you get an unparralled anabolic effect. In other words, you keep more muscle and lose fat faster when doing a CKD if doing some form on intense training. You also gain muscle alot faster when trying to gain it, than you would on adkins. This is why you do not see information about adkins on bodybuilding websites.
