What Does It Mean To You To Be A Plat Member?

I had no choice. In lieu of just giving me the link to his 5x5 program, Shadow told me to search for "old school". I was newbie and had no clue a) WTF that meant and b) that he also went by the name Cornholio. So, I became plat to search.

Since then this site has been extremely helpful and I wanted to support it.

This is a serious thread for Plats to post what it means to them to be Plat.
Maybe we could get this Stickied as it may help new peeps make a decision.
This is NOT a flame thread so keep that shit elsewhere!

As I have been away for a bit, I have been thinking about not just WHY I went Plat, but more, WHAT it means to me to be Plat.

When I first joined an decided to go Plat, it was because I wanted all the cool little extras you get that make the site more enjoyable.
After my first payment expired, I re-uped because it seemed like you got a bit more respect because of the status.

But after this last renewal and the bit of time away, I have come to the realization that this site means more to me than just cool features or respect.

To me it means a good laugh, some heated debate, a caring e-shoulder to cry on, or being able to give a little e-hand up when someones down. It means building relationships with people around the world. And even though I may never meet them face to face, they are friendships none the less. It is being able to get information and advice or feedback on things that are important to me.
Now, I suppose you will say that you can get all this being non-plat. Well you're right! You can.

However, it is being Plat that allows us to ultimately have these things I have listed above and more. It is the membership $$$$ that keeps this site up and running to allow you and me to have these things.

So to me, being Plat means supporting something with my $$$$ that enhances my life in one way or another. And it means supporting those who choose to be non-plat, in getting those things they find important from this site even though they choose not to support or cannot afford to support the site financially.

Please post up what being Plat means to you.
