weight watchers

I've done weight watchers...

I think one thing most are forgetting to mention is that the more you weigh, the more food you get. However, I'm in the 24-27 point range and weight 195 or so with 28% bf. I still try to maintain the correct amount of macronutrients daily..but I do know..some women think that if it's in their point range, they can eat it.

Twenty-four to 27 points is roughly 1200 to 1350 calories, which I think is way too low for me to lose fat. If I weight 195 pounds, how many calories SHOULD i be eating? Someone help me.

My sister lost 25 lb on WW and she was never hungry. They get more points if you weight lift which she does. To say that people are obese that go to WW is not true - she said most people that she came in contact with were not that heavy.

Yea..but to the above poster..25 pounds of what? That could be 10 pounds of muscles and only 15 pounds of fat. The point of this thread was that many on weight watchers are losing muscle due to the overly low caloric intake. I've lost 35 pounds since January..but I've also been keeping track of my bf % and it's going down. I'd like it to be lower, however. ;(

Easy is not always better...

The WW plan has its good and bad points. Plus is that it makes you right everything you eat and do down. It strongly suggests adding physical activity.
It basically works out to 1 point for every 50 calories. But you only earn 1 point for every 100 your burn with exercise.
The reason WW is popular is it is easy. There is a wide support network for it as well. Most women are only thinking about what the scale says. This program puts a large focus on that number as well hence the weekly weight in.
As for your friend I would agree with you this is not the plan for her depending on her BF% she probably only has like 5-10 lbs. at most to loose that pure fat though. If she has never lifted before you should tell her about the Body for Life plan.
The biggest problem with most women myself included is that we want results fast. Which WW will give you. It is so much harder to do what most of the ladies at Elite do which is lift hard and constantly tweak everything to get what they want out of there bodies. You should tell you friend about this website it might really help her change her point of view.

I lost 50 lbs on WW and have kept if off for about 3yrs. I think it is a great plan for people new to the "learning to eat right" & "portion control" routine. Excellent place to start!

I am now to the point where I am wanting to get leaner, WW would not be a good choice for me because I am focusing more on lower carbs and cleaner eating.

I highly recommend the program. Once used to portion control and eating balanced, I found it easier to make the "clean" transition and add more lifting!

I meant that that is the customer they pitch their program at - lots of info in the first few weeks about nutrition, portion size, emtional eating, building up activity from nil (several pages about how walking is good for you, taking the stairs etc). It's very informative for people who, like me at that time, had NO CLUE about the macronutrient contents of food or how many cals various things contained. I wasn't much overweight, but had NEVER given thought to that stuff. BUT since the query was posted here, on EF, I wiouldn't recommend the program for an aspiring BBer or fitness person.

I wasn't criticising them, just pointing out that if you are already phsyically active, there are probably better programs out there. I know a lady who has lost over 100lbs on WW and is very happy with it.
